Good luck man, just try to stay as positive and happy as you can.

My father was diagnoised with lung cancer last week, they said hes got 6 months but hes taken a turn for the worse at this point.

Things like this will really set a man back cause him to think hard ya know.

the upside of your dilemma is that you only need a kidney. as far as organs transplants go, kidneys are not as scarce as say, a lung, liver or heart. my dad recently had a liver transplant in february, and is doing great! he was in good shape when he went into the surgery, and he went home about 3 days later, was at home for about 2 months, and then went back to work. the thing that scared me the most was the rejection factor. if it didn't work, they can't put your old liver back in....but as far as a kidney goes, it isn't as a complicated surgery as a heart, liver, lung, etc..., and on top of that, there is always the dialysis route....And fortunately for you, since everyone has two kidneys, there isn't a really really long wait for them, especially if you have some one you know that is a match that will help you out. If you stick to the meds correctly, there is a much lower rejection rate these days. so good luck to you and i hope all goes well.

Thanks everybody the kind words. I am by no means giving up i will continue to fight and win. I feel just fine maybe a bit tired but other wise all is well. It's the doctor that says i am ill not me. I'll be out turkey hunting, fishing, etc.. this weekend just as normal. Just a word for you all, if you get sick go see the doctor, never think your a tough guy and not go, it does not pay in the long run. maybe the guy that was littering will give me one of his kidneys>>>>. NOT

Bucky, you un-handsome devil you...

Listen bro, I really am not happy about your crappy news and know that you are in my thoughts. I wish there was something I could do to help you, and I'm never far if you ever need a buddy to talk to.

Don't think because of this I'm going to lie and start telling you what a good looking fella you are because you & I both know the ugly truth.
(Your family had to tie a pork-chop around your neck just to get the family dog to play with you - when you were a small boy)

Anyways bro, I wish you nothing but the best of luck and I sincerely hope things turn out for the best.

Your pal always ~
Good Looking Habibi

Well after 77 jabs in the arms, torso etc.. with them dam needles i have been told today that i must sign up for the national kidney waiting list. I have to go to buffalo general and have further testing (yeah!) and then go onto the list. I have some friends and family that have offered but blood type will determine that. I am O positive and most members of the family are not. My son is a diabetic (from birth) so he is a no no. Well i was out ice fishing this morning when the call came through on my cell. I can't even tell you guys how it felt but being 2 miles out on the ice alone and then the phone rings with that message is just dam disturbing. Man it was so quiet when i hung up i had to make some noise of my own..... Oh well better days are ahead....

Just now saw this thread. Sorry to hear about that Buck! You'll pull through it and be fine man. I didn't know Strept Throat could do that to you, that's good to know.

Good luck man, you'll be fine!

Good luck Bucky! My Father is facing the same decisions as you are right now. I was visiting my Parents yesterday and my Mom gave me a folder full of literature to read over. Allot of things to decide.

I know you don't care for my Faith, but I'm praying for you anyway. Everything has its purpose, and you will find answers for what you ask. The outcome will be good.

But I know there is more to you than harassing Canucks, even though it's a great pastime. BTW, you're damn good at it

Get on the waiting list now, you can always pass later if you decide not to have the transplant. If your lucky you have a common blood type
Yea, I was going to donate to my father, but at that time, his system rejected the rejection medications, so I was told... It wouldn't have been possible. He had both kidneys go, - Mercury poisoning from fish that he caught and ate to much of. Caught the fish in poluted waters behind and old foundry. He was only 49 when he passed away, but the Mercury attacted more than just his Kidneys. So this isn't a comparison, by no means.

They have come so far since then anyway with these medications, I believe your going to be alright buckdropper.

You'll handle it man

I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I hope that a donor is found and that all things work out well for you!
