Talleywacker, which Os you got running. I really prefer the dualboot only because W2K won't play all my games. Right now I have ME/W2k running. I recently started messing around with Linux. I tried the triple boot this weekend, boy, am I glad I had a back up

jackhel: i'm using original win98 (non-se) , no upgrades no patches nothing! I use norton ghost so i never install and for me to get a fresh start it takes me only 1min. 23 sec. sometimes i'll dual boot win98 & win2k(my pc is my server in house)...

i'm also using the gw FOP38 with artic silver. and i have 5 120mm (140cfm each) in my case too(1 front, 1 bottom, 1 side, 2 top) i have them hooked up to a 12v/0ff/7v baybus so i can have them running when i want and also to have them slowed down.

I recently switched from intel where i had an abit be6-2 (original hpt366) and p3 600@854.

oh, nice truck!

pesos: i would have to disagree on your duron being faster than 1ghz tbird. maybe on games its faster or bus bandwith sensitive applications but no way would it keep up to 77mhz and the extra 192k of L2 cache on things like encoding/decoding mpegs and mp3's. agreed, on games it could be faster but not on encoding!

2000 F150 4x4: why not get a regular 1ghz tbird and unlock it and run it at 133bus?

BTW, things i have for sale:

Abit BE6-2 original w/HPT366 for sale - $80 shipped
Plextor External SCSI CDR 8x/2x - $230 shipped

Yeah I have gotten lucky on my current Duron. The last one would only go up to 876Mhz, anything above that, everything starts acting funny. But the one thing you have to be careful with is when you put on the heatsink, if you force them on you'll crush the core. That's the only bad thing about the Socket A's because the cores are exposed. That's how I killed my first one. But I got lucky with the current one because it was one of the few that uses copper interconnects, compared to the later ones when they switched to aluminum.

Talleywacker, I use Ghost also, it's a God send. If you screw up your system all it takes is a few minutes to restore. I have used it alot to save my butt/

Fast54triton and 2000Ford, if you haven't already bought one. Get a Thunderbird 750 or higher. Or better yet get the ones that have a 266 FSB. I know that the regular Thunderbird 750 can get up to 1.1-1.3Ghz.

My last system was an AMD K6-2 450@500Mhz and it had the Voodoo 3000. I usually use my system for Gaming and encoding/decoding music. I thought my system was pretty fast, but then when I built my new one, it was running at the default 600Mhz. WOW, and now after overclocking it's even faster.

Sorry to break in here with a standard little system but can I overclock an AMD K6 450? If so, what do I need to do and what should I expect?

Thanks!
