I also have a Sony Mavica, but without the zoom lens.(they hadn't come out with that yet)
Anyway, it is really neat....takes good pictures, but is a must to install the photo enhancement software...and also have a photo quality printer. The paper for printing the photos is quite expensive currently..about $1.oo per page...the diskette idea is really great!! Sending pics is a snap. A recent Consumer Report had a review of most of the digitals on the market.

I have a nice camera for important stuff.
I just want one for web pics.
I can get that Sony with the 10x zoom lithium battery (MVC-FD73) through my wholesaler for $449.00.

$200.00 more than I really want to spend but if the camera is that much better than the Olypmus 340 then might be worth it.
I do REALLY like the Sony uses regular floppies.
No usb or other download connections to mess with and floppies are practically free after rebates.
Plus if you are out of town and can't download to a computer you can go to just about any store and pick up floppies.

I have the same camera as Mudder: the Sony Digital Mavica and the picture quality is GREAT! WELL worth the money..it was $499.00. The best feature is that it uses standard diskettes, it can format the disks, copy disks, 10x zoom, color display image, and MANY other features.

I would *highly* recommend this camera.

I have a Fuji MX-600 Zoom. Many options with it. Take great stills, action, macro shots. If touch ups are needed on any of the shots the photo finisher is excellent. It is also compliant with the Paint Pro Shop 6. Works well with most Photo Finishing programs.
