Here is my recomendation:
They have not yet perfected this technology to the degree that justifys the price. Furthermore the price HAS got to come down before I will get one. I have a pc cam with a 20' cord that will do anything in the house. (see pic in topic "They finally came") For the Truck, I use those "throw away" cameras (I can't load film-don't laugh) and then get it developed on a CD (place does this in an hour) From there, (CD) I crop, resize ect., then upload to my website. As long as I can do it this way, there is no justifying $400 to $600 for a camera that is still in the "research & developement stages."
Check it out, ALL of my pics were done in this manner with the exception of Bluedefens who sent me his, and I don't know what HE used to take those.

Gonna get my Bed rails back on, Finally!
Couldn't find the right Polished steel design, so once I modify the powercoated ones I just bought, I will paint them.
Q: who wants my chrome ones? Price:cost of shipping, or gas and maybe lunch if you live in S/E MI.

btw the pc cam was about $60. extention cord, $20. If I parked by the front door and turn the monitor so I can see it, I can take a pic of my truck!

I just purchased the Toshiba PDR-M5. It not only shoots JPGS, but it will also shoot up to an 8 minute MPEG movie! The price? About $800. Now, I'm a weenie, and I have to have the latest and greatest, but if you have the cash and it interests you, this is one hot camera. Andthensometoo's idea about a PC cam will work just fine too, but technology gets better each day, and if you are getting a "megapixel" camera, they do take great pictures! https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif

Don C:

I've gone through several digicams over the past couple years and I've finally found one that I am completely satisfied with. The Coolpix 950. I see that you are thinking about the Coolpix 800. I've heard good things about it and in fact I was looking into that camera before I decided on the 950. The thing that swayed me over to the 950 was the ability to manually control both the aperature and the shutter speed (the 800 doesn't allow this). The main reason this was important to me was that I take a lot of action motorcycle photos, so I needed a way to control the shutter speed for those action shots.

I've got a ton of sample photos taken with the 950 that I can post on my website if you would like to look at the full size 1600x1200 photos, or if you want to look at those that I've shrunk down to 640x480 you can take a look here. All of this set of photos was taken with the Coolpix 950:

Coolpix Photos

Some of the last few pictures where we're going through the river crossing at high speed help to demonstrate the difference between being able to control the shutter speed and not.

That said, if you're not really going to be taking action shots, or don't care to mess around with aperature / shutter speed priority, the Coolpix 800 is getting great reviews as well, and is cheaper than the 950. Here is another site that has great digicam reviews as well:

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks guys for all the info.
I think I am going to buy the Olympus D450 Zoom. I would realy like the Nikon, but if I need to take action pics I can use my Nikon 35 mm.Also with the $ 200.00 I will save I can buy some rechargable batteries, a USB reader, and a larger storage card.
So hopefully by this weekend I will have some pics of my truck up on my web page, will let you know when they are up and veiwable.
Thanks all
Don

I have been using a Kodak DC120 for a few years now. However it has been down for a few months due to the non support of the original picture transfer program with Win 98 vs 2. But today I finally have gotten around to solving that and getting it back up and running by ordering a flashmate reader and while I was at it I went ahead and got a new bigger memory card for it so I should finally be back in the world of digital pictures today. Finally I can post a picture of my Truck! My Department owns four Kodak camera's of various models. They all seem to perform well. Mine works well after two years.

I have a Fuji MX-500, it does 640x480 and 1280x1024, but to be perfectly honest, I never use the higher resolution! It eats more memory, and won't fit on the screen unless it's resized, and that degrades the quality! Watch the sale ads for Best Buy and CompUSA, Afga among other are now offering 640x480 resolution cameras for under $100.00! These all will do fine for Web Posting!

Well when I get my camera (maybe a month from now), I'm getting the Olympus C-2500L. When I get it I'll gladly post images from it so others can see the quality. The only downside is this camera is not for the penny-pinchers. You can find them for about $1,250 if you now where to look, but that's a lot of $ for a camera.

Here is a new photo from one of my links on my web page of the illustrious "Big Red".
The billit accessories are great, I love the new mirror...and the camera works so much nicer than going in and having it scanned.
