So many guns, so little time. Kind of like Jack Elam's character in "Hawmps." Where do I begin?

For deer:
  • Ruger M77 MKII .270 Winchester
  • Savage Model 99C 7mm-08 Remington
  • Savage Model 99F .308 Winchester
  • Savage Model 99A .250-3000 Savage
  • Savage Model 99H .30-30 Winchester
  • Savage Model 99T .30-30 Winchester
  • Savage Model 1899A short rifle .303 Savage
  • Savage Model 1899A standard rifle .303 Savage
  • Winchester Model 100 (pre-64) .308 Winchester
  • Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle rebarreled to 6x45mm
  • Ruger #1B .257 Roberts
  • Remington Model 14 .25 Remington
  • Thompson/Center Renegade .50 Caliber muzzleloader
  • Lyman Great Plains Rifle .50 Caliber muzzleloader
For small game:
  • Ruger 10/22 Stainless Mannlicher .22 LR (reworked bolt and trigger for maximum accuracy)
  • Savage/Stevens Model 72 Crackshot .22 LR
For birds and small game:
  • Ithaca Model 37 Ultra Featherlight 12 Gauge
  • Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight 12 Gauge
  • Browning Auto 5 Light 20
  • Browning Gold Hunter 12 Gauge
  • Ruger Red Label 20 Gauge
Small game handguns:
  • Ruger MKII 5 1/2 inch bull barrel .22 LR
  • Smith & Wesson Model 617 6 inch barrel .22 LR
  • Smith & Wesson Model 16-4 4 inch barrel .32 H&R Magnum
Self-defense, plinking, etc. handguns:
  • Ruger GP-100 4 inch heavy barrel .357 Magnum
  • Ruger SP-101 2 1/8 inch barrel .357 Magnum
  • Smith and Wesson Model 640 .357 Magnum
  • Ruger P-89 9mm Parabellum
  • Ruger P-94 .40 S&W
  • Para Ordnance P14 .45 Automatic
  • Ruger Old Army (cap and ball) .45 black powder
I think that's it, but I most generally use the Model 77 Ruger for deer and the 10/22 for squirrels.

Dennis.... stop dreaming about the Glock 10mm!!
Get one, you wont regret it. The Glock 20(10mm) loaded w/corbons 135 gr. hollowpoint 1450 fps. is an awesome combination. Esp. with 15 rounds in the mag.(pre ban of course)
Hunting? Winchesters 175 gr. (1290 fps.) silvertip works great on deer size game.

Maybe we should open a reloading thread...heh heh. Here we go:
Long range varment: Ruger #1 in 6mm topped with a Leupold 4-12
Long range big game: Remington 700 Sendero in 7mm mag topped with a Weaver 4-16
50 yard target would have to go to my Ruger 10-22T with thumbhole stock topped with a Weaver 4-12...I could go on and on...
By the way best load for 7mm is 68 gr. of 7828. CCI mag primers, with a 150 gr. Sierra HPBT Match. (Federal cases of course) MOA accuracy to 300 yards no problem...Happy hunting!!!!!!

Blackenedford-LMAO!! Heck, why not? Good to know there are more gun nuts out there other than myself. Nothing I like better than the smell of burnt gun powder and Hoppes #9 in the morning. If we could figure out how to make a cologne out of Hoppes #9, we'd be rich! LOL
Happy shooting!!

For duck hunting, I'd love to use my dad's street sweeper... it's a 12 shot semi-auto 12 guage. (looks similar to an old tommy gun... could take out the whole flock with it! Illegal, though....) It's fun to shoot, but I could never hunt with it.

If I ever get the front end replacement I want on my truck may have to take it out deer hunting. Its the easiest way to deer hunt, but unfortunatly it can also be the most expensive. Hehehe

Blackenedford, reloading? I've only reloaded shotgun shells. Used to be heavy into skeet shooting back when I was in college. Used to sneak my shotguns into the dorm disguised in a trombone case. Used to shoot skeet at one range on Saturdays and another on Sundays and a third on Wednesday nights. 100 shells minimum each day. Ammo box held 150 shells, so that was my self-imposed limit.

Wasn't very good at it though. Best tournament record for me was 75 straight. There were a couple of old guys who beat me regularly with their .410s. GRRRR!!!!!!!

Dennis:
I also reload shotgun shells. Have a MEC progressive loader. Its nice but the price of shotgun shells are so cheap now, i havent reloaded too many lately. When it comes to loading high power rifle cartridges, its way cheaper to do them yourself....unless your rich. A box of .375 H&H mags. usally run me about $50.00. I could reload them for half that.

I only bagged a deer once, and I used the front end of my 1993 Lightning. I was driving in the central part of Mass, and a deer came out of nowhere, and all off a sudden, kaboom. $3000.00 worth of damage to my baby luckally I had my seat belt on, and didn't get hurt. The deer didn't make out to well I was going over 60 mph.
