Unhappy Sky High Gas Prices

Is it just our area, or did everyones gas prices go up 25-35 cents the last couple of days? A Sunoco at Tylersville and I-75 was 1.61 mid-week(YIKES!), 1.69 Thrusday p.m., 1.71 Friday a.m, 1.89 Fri p.m. for 87 self-serve. Today was the first time I've ever seen premium over $2 a gallon in our area.

BTW my truck went 314 mi on 22.7 gal = 13.8 mpg.

Hey, someone from my area. I work close to that exit in Mason. I agree about gas prices around here. They're getting ridiculous. When I first got my truck I was usually paying a little over $20 a tank( 1/4 tank left), now I'm paying $30 plus. Here in Milford its a little cheaper. I filled up Tuesday night at $1.59 a gallon for regular.

Went up $.10 to $1.55 just today. Must be because of that big pipeline leak up in Michigan. At least that's a good excuse for them to raise prices!!

Filled up at a BP Station today with their "Plus" (middle) grade. It was a dollar freakin' ninety seven a gallon!!!!! Premium shot up to $2.07!! The cheap stuff is $1.88! Since I was on fumes, I had to bend over and take it. It cost me 40 bucks. Didn't even give me any Vaseline, the B@stards. And yes, it DID just jump about 20 cents today.

Went up to 1.74 for the cheap stuff here in Minnesota. I think it's absolute Bull---T! Something has to be done. These oil companies are laughing all the way to the bank. I could understand why they went up earlier this year when they said they didn't produce enough but they've stepped up the production since then so I don't see a valid reason for it.

We just hit $2.00/gal for the cheap stuff. I live on the SE side of Chicago in Indiana. It's a little more in Chicago, but if you go 25 or so miles south, the cost is roughly 30 cents a gallon cheaper. I hear it has to do with the oxygenated fuel in areas with high polution. I'm now spending over $40.00/week to drive to work (250 miles/week). I could retire at 50 if i was investing that much more weekly twards retirement!

These gas prices bite. $1.57 for 87 and 89 octane in South Dakota. It's as bad as $1.67 in Sioux Falls. I just read that OPEC did NOT raise production (big surprise -- NOT). So it looks like the prices will be high for a while.

I got to thinking. They say the prices are no longer to blame on OPEC. OPEC is producing well enough crude. But, that the prices are going up because of the Clean Air Act of 1996. I also fly. If this is true, then why is AvGas going up just as fast? To me, this seems like extortion, or more of a monopoly, anyone else agree?

Yep up .20 plus just this week here in MI.
I paid 1.69 for the cheap stuff Tuesday. This morning same station...probably same fuel was 1.83. My neighbor paid 1.62 there Monday the day before I filled up...WTF???

Accross the street here from work the cheap stuff is 1.92 with premium at 2.09. Hard to believe that first of May prices were back down to 1.38 from the March high if 1.69.

Yippie we've set a new record.....

Alright! More Ohio guys! Maybe one day we'll get together. The gas is killing me. I live north of Columbus by a truck stop exit off 71, and gas has always been cheap there. This year is the first time in years it's been above a buck. They were able to hold off until about a couple months ago, and now at $1.60 for reg. I just drove to TN and was going over my credit card statement. $87 in gas for both ways! Yikes! But, if I was that concerned about mileage, I would have bought a Metro.
