When I was driving around town this morning the price of gas is 1.49 for 87 at most stations there are still a few at 1.45 if you dare use cheap off brand gas I'll stay with a name brand gas and pay the extra 5 cents a gallon.

Question

West Michigan hit a new high today
$2.14 reg
$2.24 mid
$2.33 Prem.

The scary part is there is not limit to the amount of gouging by the Oil Industry.

It burns me

The cost of fuel went down 12% per barrel and yet the prices has risen 34% WTF!!!!

Damn I guess the care free days are over for good! And big V8s or big cars & trucks are coming to an end (Thats what the Environ-mental-ists want) Right now its costing 50 dollars per week. Here in quebec the prices are at 3.09 per gallon (in canadian dollars).

On another note they said that pollution will rise the GLOBAL temperature. What a lot of crock! We are still using the heaters here!!!! I wish I was born in the 50's because life today sucks!!!

Sure gas prices suck. Don't even get me started on the environment! Appearently the more money you're willing to throw at the powers that be, the more you can pollute! The emissions from all the cars collectively can't possibly compare with all the F'ING crap the big chemical and industrial Co's are allowed to spew recklessly in to the air and water.
I do my part, I do NOT use lawn chemicals or ANY type of 'toxic' cleaning supplies. Vinagar and water will clean almost anything. After that, the citrus based stuff will clean the rest. The more crap you buy, the more crap they will produce.
I don't mind if parts of my lawn get a little crisp in the heat of summer. Plant more trees, they will shade your lawn and provide homes for small animals. If you really need filtilizer, what local Horse barn wouldn't mind if you showed up with a truck and a shovel?

ATST: Do you use environmentally friendly stuff to clean your truck also? If so what do you use?

Boy, didn't I know THAT was comming?
I figure (and I could be wrong) that a product containing mild enough detergents so that it that won't harm the paint, also must be OK for the environment. So far, the grass hasn't died where I wash my Truck.

On the receipts you get at the Shell gasstations here in The Netherlands,
Shell is explaining they can't really do much about the high gasprices and that tax
is the main cause for these high prices.

This info I got from their website.

This shows how our fuelprices are made up.

2.67 dutch guilder per liter unleaded 95
4.30 US$/gallon (us$--->2.35 dutch guilder)

11 cents for the gasstation.(this is no profit, all costs have to be paid from this money, profit will only be 1.5 - 2.0 cents a liter)

3 cents for the oil-company (profit,Shell in this case)

15 cents direct and indirect costs (whatever that will be)

66 cents for productioncosts at the refinary

40 cents dutch taxes (17.5 %)

1 guilder 32 cents additional dutch taxes.

As you can see, oilcompanies are not earning that much!!!!! Do you believe it!!!!(3 cents on 267 cents yeah yeah yeah)

There is a demand for cleaner fuel in the US caused by new regulations concerning the environment.US refineries cannot produce 95/98 unleaded fuel enough therefore US is buying large stocks of fuel in Europe causing prices to go up here.(98 unleaded 4.53 US$/Gallon)

With the holiday season coming prices could go up even to 3.00 Dutch Guilder!!!!!
(4.83 US$/Gallon)

Just read that oil went up again to 30.28 US$ a barrel and that OPEC will not increase production until their meeting of June 21.

Well thankfully we only have to wait til Labor Day until it goes down for sure when we get back into the old formulated winter gas. Too bad we have to count down the days of summer already. I filled up this morning and it cost me $32 and it was just shy of empty. I'll do this 1 1/2 times a week on average. I'm spending about $7 more to fill it up, times 6 fill ups = $42. All I have to do spend $42 less in beer a month and I'm coming out even! That's how I'll justify it, and believing it helps me sleep at night.
