Cool

Having a supercab is like having a car and a truck. So, there is no way I could stand going back to a reg. cab. However my next truck will probably be a crew cab.

Just do what I do, by a white one and you should only have to wash it once every three months. I also keep a bottle of wheel magic in the back so when I send my girlfriend out to fill it up with gas she can just spray the wheels and go through the touchless carwash at the Mobil station. She gets bugged about it being dirty, I don't have time to worry with it.

Once you've owned a S/C, you'll be too spoiled by the space to ever return to a reg. cab. I don't know of anyone who, once they owned a S/C, complained about the added wheelbase to justify the extra interior room. My first new truck was a '90 Ranger 4X4 reg cab. Back then, I thought only old men w/ families drove those hideous ext. cab trucks. I didn't know what I was missing until I traded to a 94 Ranger ext. cab.

My next truck will have a Supercab, and I have to have a longbed. And not having 4x4 isn't a choice. Have to have it.

I don't think I'd go back to a regular cab. I know I would never go back to two wheel drive.

Cool

This is my fourth truck, previous were a 73 Dodge Club Cab long bed (the only non Ford I have ever owned), an 88 Ranger GT regular cab and a 91 Ranger Extra Cab. New truck is a brand new (as in I JUST GOT IT TODAY) 2000 special order regular cab F150 5.4 Island blue XLT. All were good vehicles but the Dodge was too big for an every day driver (had to clean the foreign cars out of the wheelwells every week, with a topper it had a lot of blind spots and almost got a Harley once, felt bad about that one), the 88 did not have enough cab space but I loved driving that little GT around, the 91 was more comfortable but I am a 36 year old juvenille and it didn't fit my image of a playboy stud. For me at this time the regular cab F150 suits me best, parks just as easy as my cars (or even easier than the 60's big block cars with no power steering, people keep asking me if I work out at the gym, it's just from that "armstrong steering"!).

Hey guys, I've had both and both have advantages, most of which have been named for the S/Cs. But don't bash the little trucks, they are great in traffic(I hated my old F-250 S/C diesel in rush hour traffic), they are easier to park and great tow vehicles for the average size trailer(under 5000lbs). I would much rather back a trailer with a swb reg cab than a lwb S/C. I did go back to a regular cab.

Forgot to mention that the S/C has to be a short box. My dad had an 84 S/C long box. It was impossible to park and very hard to drive in heavy traffic.

I'd go for a shortbox lightning 4X4 S/C.

I've had xcabs b4, and the xtra space was nice. the reg cab lightning is like a corvette with a 6.5ft trunk. got a bedrug and a roll&lock, and that takes care of the watertight problem, and if you need the seats to "go all the way back", that bedrug has some good padding ,i'd have a hard time going back to a xcab.
