Rush Limbaugh's OpEd for the WSJ: My Bipartisan Stimulus Package.
Rush Limbaugh has quite an idea for a new Stimulus Package. I think it's a pretty novel idea:
Fifty-three percent of American voters voted for Barack Obama; 46% voted for John McCain, and 1% voted for wackos. Give that 1% to President Obama. Let's say the vote was 54% to 46%. As a way to bring the country together and at the same time determine the most effective way to deal with recessions, under the Obama-Limbaugh Stimulus Plan of 2009: 54% of the $900 billion -- $486 billion -- will be spent on infrastructure and pork as defined by Mr. Obama and the Democrats; 46% -- $414 billion -- will be directed toward tax cuts, as determined by me.
Then we compare. We see which stimulus actually works. This is bipartisanship! It would satisfy the American people's wishes, as polls currently note; and it would also serve as a measurable test as to which approach best stimulates job growth.

The article is worth the read. He has 20+ million radio listeners; some to get information, some to get ammunition, some because they just truly despise the man. He makes some very valid points wether you like him or not.

How do you figure?
The forum gets a daily dose of Obama hate, which is your right.
It doesn't bother me, I'm giving Obama a chance.
These 'debate' threads only entrench the opposing sides more deeply.
Besides, my comment was directed to Mr Limbaugh (my right).

I hope to God that Obama fails
I don't get it.
So because John McCain lost the election, Rush is not allowed to come up with an idea for a stimulus package? Obviously, Rush is just making a joke. You libs need to learn to laugh.
A government "stimulus package" is an all around bad idea. Rush is just making fun of it in a clever way.

I've listened to Rush probably 5 or 6 times in the last 10 years and I'll say this for him, he truly cares about America's future. Any sane person that is familiar with economics knows that we cannot keep up with these government depredations. At some point we will have to pay-up.
I guess for you, you are comfortable working just to pay taxes. If so, there are other countries that will gladly receive you.
I'll cover your airfare.
The investment in infrastructure is the best way to go. That type of investment employs skilled and unskilled labor, thus turning recipients into tax paying citizens. You may not see many people working a job site itself, but there are many other in the background doing support work for the effort.
The tax cuts for business is good also, as it leaves more money to reinvest in equipment, which also employs more people.
Both paths create jobs. The business sectors investments, stimulate tax revenues, as well as infrastructure investments create jobs that keep people off the unemployment and other hand outs.
Like I have said before the answers are always found in gray areas, and not in black and White. So in effect lite tax cuts, and investment in infrastructure are two key ingredients to helping the economy and getting more return for the tax dollars.
Some people aren't going to work regardless of what is offered to them.

I don't read the Wall Street Journal and honestly didn't know it had a comics section. I took the article as serious. My bad.
I read it kind of late last night and now I can see the proposal is completely wacko.
Now if Rush had thought of this in 2001 and said turn over 51% of Bush's budget to the dems, then I could see the logic and consistency.

So you're telling me you never said anything negative about the administration of the past 8 years?
Raoul, you have the ability to make humorous and off the wall comments, but I've yet to see any decent political post from you. Maybe that's because I tend to stay away from those threads since they usually spiral downwards fairly quickly.
Regardless, I find it amusing that the same people who bitched and moaned about Bush now think anyone who bitches about Obama needs to "get over it". Better yet, some guy on the forums blamed Obama's 'loose spending' on Bush because "That's the way Bush did things".
The way I see things it's pretty simple. Our gov't is now controlled by Democrats. If everything Bush did was so horrible, it should be pretty easy for those in power now to retract, or introduce new policies that the Republican's "didn't allow" for the past 8 years. I guess they've started though... https://www.f150online.com/forums/ge...s-gun-ban.html

Your statement and mine to Rush are pretty much the same thing.

In theory, this sounds great, in reality, I've yet to see it happen. What usually happens is businesses pay out larger bonuses to upper management and keep more money for themselves. They take this money and throw it at the market and create a bubble. They do not take tax cuts and invest it in new equipment and employees, only market demand does that. How do you have market demand? A marketable product and people willing and ABLE to buy it. You don't stimulate business by giving business owners more money, you give them people that can buy their products.
