Somewhat back on topic, I went into Circuit City today. A lot of stuff was 10% off and some stuff was 20% off. Customer service was horrible as usual. Each time my wife and I have been in there in the past, you practically have to beg people to help you. As a comparison, we were at Best Buy looking at Blu-Ray players and we had a District Manager come up to us and ask us if we needed help. That is saying a lot.

I could care less that our CC is going out of business. 99% of the employees at our store are punk kids that don't have any education beyond high school anyway. I am sure there are many minimum wage jobs out there to absorb them.

The job losses that bother me are trades and businesses that require specialized training or education. Jobs where people have put in a lot of time and effort just to be considered for the job.

Amen! People will only take so much of snot-nosed sales people treating them like they are doing the customers a huge favor by speaking to them. The Circuit City near my house was actually one of the 150 that closed in November. I didn't even step foot in the store during the "liquidation". I did, however, buy an Apple iBook and a Sony Blu-Ray player when CompUSA went out of business last year.

I'm not sad to see CC go. I haven't shopped there much since they tried to hit me with a restocking fee on a laptop I tried to return because a salesman blatently lied to me about the features and another employee lied to me about being refunded my money. Long story short I had to call the DM to get any satisfaction.

I was in there a couple of weeks ago looking for something for my Wii on a Sunday morning (when most people shop because the new ads come out) and they didn't have ANY registers open. If you wanted to buy something you had to wait in a mile long line at Customer service. And the girl was rude as hell. I just left. No wonder they're going out of business. They haven't had good customer service at the stores near me in about 10 years.

Went there yesterday. Most of the store is 10% off. Some items were 20% and 30% off. The local news did a story about how most items were cheaper in the Sunday ad than they are now. So if you go, bring your ad. They'll still honor it this week. I wouldn't waste my time though.
