Thumbs down Diallo Murder Trial

The four NYC cops that fired 41 rounds at Diallo in front of his house were acquitted of ALL CHARGES. Self defense maybe, but when the Medical Examiner reported that from the angle of the entrance wounds most of the 19 hits came after the victim was down and the first two rounds went through his heart and shattered his spinal cord it's MURDER. I'm outraged at this, I would like to hear other opinions.

The Feds will get them like they did to the ones in California.

41 shots????..I can't seem to fathom that.I guess the thought of this guy getting his wallet out was enough justification.

I wonder if the Feds will step in and prosecute for civil rights violations as they did in the Rodney King affair?

Even If you overlook the race issue, 41 shots, 19 hits, most of the hits after the victim was down. The Medical examiner made the case for the prosecution. Come on, one of the bullet entrance points was through the bottom of the feet. Rodney King was in trouble with the law several times, a real scumbag and Diallo never in trouble. I think the City of New York is going to get hit with a big time lawsuit. I wonder when the Jurors are going to publish their books.

Angry

Four cops, 41 shots and 19 hits is nuts! Maybe police officers need *extensive* weapons training and *licensing* (plus a waiting period) before they are allowed to carry concealed...*renewable every year*.

But to be serious (well ....) these guys are not off the hook yet. New York City is not off the hook either. I fully understand about protecting their own lives first...but a couple of them emptied their entire magazine on this guy...give me a break!

Glad they were not carrying AR-15s...they have 30 round mags.

Dustoff is right, 19 hits out of 41 shots is TERRIBLE! Looks like NYC cops need some more firearms training!

Make your opinion count.
Here's an email I just got from www.vote.com

Dear Vote.com voter,

This afternoon, an Albany, New York jury acquitted all of the police officer defendants in the Amadou Diallo murder trial.

Already, there are passionate opinions being expressed in the media in support of both the family and the prosecutors, on the one hand, and the police officers on the other.

If you have an opinion on this issue and want to be heard, log on to http://www.vote.com and cast your vote on the question of: "Do you agree with the jury verdict in the Diallo case?" We will forward all votes to New York City Mayor Guiliani by email.

If you know of a friend or family member who might also be interested in voting on this issue, please forward this email.

Thank you,
Your friends at vote.com

I agree with with Fordman here...

Another topic

There was a lady here in Kansas City, who went into a Sub shop to get a pop, and she left her young son in the Blazer, and left it running, and a carjacker got in and drove off, and she ran out and tried to stop him, and the car jacker was also trying to get the kid out, and ended up dragging him 4 miles.

What do I think they should do to the car jacker?

Send him out here, and I'll tie his A$$ to the bumper of my F-150 and drag his A$$ 4 miles down our rough rock roads. See if he still likes draggin people!

I am FOR capital punishment. I have absolutely no mercy for people who do things like that.

Okay I'll give you something there, but how many shots do you pump into a guy?Say he was still standing after 3 shots maybe four, does that justify the other 15 being pumped into a clump of flesh on the ground??A bullet entry point thru the bottom of his foot???

According to the Coroner the 1st or 2nd shot killed the VICTIM. I guess in New York it is police policy to continue shooting at a non moving body until their clips are empty. Negligent Homicide should have been the charges.

Another thought on this...The cop that yelled "Gun" which began the barrage was wounded back in August of 98,he returned fire but missed his assailant(this should surprise nobody) who was never apprehended. So my thought is maybe this guy was thinking way to much of what happened to him before.I certainly understand that he would be extremely cautious, but shooting his weapon 16 times goes beyond cautious.Just an opinion.
