I think he doth protest too much...

By the way if anyone's interested, 17 beanie babies will fit on the dash of an F150.

Funny you should ask........!
I was thinking about posting this in one of the victories/defeats threads but decided not to. But, now that you have asked.....!

Two weeks ago driving home, a youngish guy in a brandy new T150 was next to me at a light. Gunned it on green, I just sort of kept up, staying a little off his rear fender. Next light, same deal, I let him pull me 2-3 lengths but after catching him, stayed right on his door.
Third light (major intersection longer light) he stops 10-15 feet short and power brakes a couple of times up to the intersection. Big grin on his face!
I pointed to Lightning badges on my front fender, didn't faze him. I figure, enough!
He power brakes and lets fly. I ran mine up to 1700 revs or so against the brake and gave him a half second or so. Truck goes sideways, spewing white smoke, hooks up and goes past him like gangbusters.
I tried to get next to him to talk and explain what he was going against, but he cut off at the WaffleHouse and I was late getting home.

No glory here, shooting fish in a barrel, but, you did ask........!

I bet that's the last Lightning he'll ever race now that he knows what it is.
You should have had him put money on it.
I think my truck could even beat him.
He didn't stand a chance.
I wouldn't even try a to race a Lightning.
Maybe he'll do a little reseach and won't feel so bad about losing.

I just read in the computer chips section "99F150 vs other trucks" that the cheapest T150 on the lot was $32,000.
Damn you could buy a fully loaded 4x4 supercab Larait for that.

Some of you guys have seen this, some haven't. I posted the results from Truck Trend's test of the Big 3 and the Toy. It's in the Computer Chips category under 99F150 vs. other trucks. Check it out. I pulled everything straight out of the article.

Ok now, someone has to take an unemotional approach to this Tundra thing. The Tundra is a good truck. Toyota makes vehicles that simply do not require maintenance. Now, don't get me wrong, I am NOT about to trade my F150 (God bless it, I love it!). However, you must judge the Tundra for what it is. It covers a market segment that needs filling. Folks who don't need a true full size truck, that just like trucks and want to haul home some Home Depot stuff occasionally. My sister just bought a good looking, loaded 4x2 Tundra for about $21,000. It drives like a car, brakes like Godzilla is pulling on the bumper and generally has a quality feel to it. It makes her happy and I'm sure lots of other folks will love it as well. I like mine much better, but the Tundra is ok. Don't huff and puff about it unless you have driven one.

Terrylee did your sister get a V8 or regcab?
If you want a foriegn truck for the occasional trip to the Depot maybe try Nissan
Not as big as the Tundra but only about half the money.
I had a '92 I paid $8,500 new and drove it 106000 never in the shop.
Toyota makes an excellent product but you must admit it is overpriced.
My F150 was actually cheaper that the Toyota V6 regular cab.

can't compare a jap v8 (i'm talking engine only) to any of the big3's versions, it's not a hp thing either, they are smooth as silk, bulletproof, and worth more money.

54regcab:
She bought an extended cab w/ V8. It has a CD player, captain chairs, programable gizmo for the garage door opener, nice wheels, in all a really nice truck. Toyotas are priced a little high. Look at the Supra. At $48K they priced it right off the market! I forgot who said something about the american V8, but dude you are right. The US has no competition when it comes to the big block!

Saw the new Tundra commercial today.
they were bragging that it could pull up to 7,200 lbs.
My F150 can pull 8,300 lbs.

Terry Lee great deal.
How did your sister get it so cheap?
The ones I looked at were way more than $21,000.
Do you know MSRP and invoice for this truck?
Was this price before or after trade in?
Maybe I should eat my words about Toyota being overpriced.
