What kind of snowmobiles do you have?
I have a 92 Polaris Indy 500 SKS EFI. I like it and it has good power but its time for a new one. I'm thinking either a Polaris with the new 500 or new 600 XC.
What kind do you guys have and like the best?

Ive never ridden a SnowMobile, but Ill tell you what 4wheeler Ive ridden and liked. A Polaris 500 auto. Good pickup and speed.
I wouldnt have a problem smokin Dunbarton with that sucker...

4X4Ranger: I'm originally from a little town across the state from you. Used to run Arctic Cats. I see they have a 1000cc ThunderCat that cranks out 172HP. One of the very few things I miss about snow. You probably don't want to spend the (I think) $10K on it though, kinda steep for a 4 month a year playtoy.

4D THNDR - I can't imagine driving that sled with that much power. I would probably kill myself with it. And your right on the price of new sleds, its ridiculous how much they are for the limited amount of use they get.
bosch45 - My sled is very reliable too, it has 5500 miles and is completely stock and I've never really fixed anything other than routine maintanence. I love the thing. But, I'd like to get something with more power though and a better riding suspension.

I'm Riding a 97 Arctic Cat ZR580 and the wife is on a 97 ZL 440. I'll be upgrading to a 01 something after this season. I've ridden Polaris and Yamaha as well. Looking to get into another sled in the 500-700 cc class. Leaning towards Cat and Polaris. I just do not need anything over 110hp.
80 mph through the woods makes those trees fly by prettty fast 8^)
4x4 try the Xc 500 or 600 I'm sure you'll like it .

I have a '98 Arctic Cat ZR600 EFI Limited Edition. It's similar to the regular ZR600 EFI, but it's black (instead of green), has clicker shocks up front and the front arm limiter quick adjust in front of the handlebars. It's not the fastest sled out there (only 105 HP), but it still flies...broke 100MPH (according to the speedometer) going across a lake last weekend and it handles really well. I bought it in January of 1998 and we haven't had a good winter with lots of snow since...and I live in Minnesota! Looks like I'll have to trailer it to North Carolina. ;-) Oh well, maybe next winter.

If you think that 4 wheeler had good pickup and speed, you should take a ride on a new snowmobile sometime...just make sure you're hangin' on tight when you hit the throttle or you'll find yourself on your back lookin' up at the sky. ;-)
FarmBoy...
Did you see that Arctic Cat just announced a new ZR600 for 2001? It has variable exhaust valves for better performance...the couple of test reports I've read said it's a great sled. Rumor has it that they'll also be announcing a ZR800 shortly.

MattT,
Yes I've heard the same thing. I'll spring order something. Probably a Cat......my blood runs pretty green. I'd like to see the
VEV technology go to the 700, and 500 as well. If it were on the 500 I'd probably get one. Right now It looks like the 600 for me.
The ZR I've got now has been a great sled.
One week from today I'll be on my annual outing with "the boys". Yipeee!!

How are those Artic Cats you drive? I'm just curious I'm open to different opinions on a new sled. I was just going to stick with Polaris becaue of the good luck I had with my old one. Thanks!!

Cat's the only way to go!! I've got a 98' ZR 600 carb and a 2000 ZL500 carb for the girlfriend. Next year, the new ZR800 and my 98 600 will become a mod grass dragger. My buddies and I do that in the summer. You won't believe how cool it is to go 120 in 500 feet on grass!! That's radar speed too!! If anybody has any sled questions email me. I know sleds pretty well.
