The real reason USC plays in the Rose Bowl in MONEY. Having them there sells tickets and ad time on TV.
I said USC has a much better team than Oregon St.

My opinion is that USC could compete with any team in any conference. For the last 3 years they haven't just played in the Rose Bowl they have won it. Is that money as well?

Winning the Rose Bowl against 2nd rate Big-10 teams proves nothing.

USC is all hype. They are a decent team that plays in a crap conference. Overall their regular season opponents combine for a LOSING RECORD.

Their opponents combined for 68 wins and 76 losses. Tough schedule.

I like how they used the " The Pac-10 is 5-0 in the postseason" argument. How does that have any weight at all? Theres been quite a few blowouts and mismatched teams this year. Maybe if there was some common opponents to compare the Pac 10 to the rest of the conferences, but I'm not buying it. Pac 10 is still weak, Big 12 and SEC run the show. That's why THEY are being represented in the championship game. Even Texas deserved to go before USC did.

Sick of pac 10 and SEC. Homefield advantage every year. Come to the cold and play!

The only way we would know truly how good USC is would be if they would schedule harder games. For their non conference games next year why not schedule Texas, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, or Oklahoma as a regular season game. When they run the table and go undefeated and beat someone for the Nat'l Champ Title then they will be the best team in the country. Until then it's all hype!

Do I think USC could beat Florida, Oklahoma, or Texas... NO.

We already know that USC can't beat Texas. They can't beat any team that has any substance to it.

So I found what Carroll said:

“With all due respect, those [Florida and Oklahoma] are two great programs,” Carroll said. “But I don’t think anybody can beat the Trojans this year.”
Except for Oregon State dumbass. 27-21.

And then there was USC running back C.J. Gable, taking it one step further.

“We know we would crush Florida and Oklahoma,” he said. “We know that.”
These folks need to stay out the sun. Idiots.

I would like to see Pete Carroll make those same comments if there WAS a playoff system in place. Not to mention, let's see them win a bowl on a NEUTRAL field.

I was referring to the post game interview on the field where he said what I said above. I did not see the press conference. I stand corrected. That was a pretty dumb statement.

I think he got hit a little too hard.

boo freaking hooo, for all you SEC fans that don't know how to travel (ie Georgia), its not USC's fault they have a contract with the Rose bowl. PSU showed up with good numbers, but in the end, the better team won. anyone trying to use the fact that the Rosebowl is so close to explain a poor showing is being a... well, you know.

USC took themselves out of the title race, Pete and his players have acknowledged that. just another reason for a playoff, to see who is playing the best ball at the end of the season. because right now, USC is playing strong. I won't pretend to know what would happen if USC played Texas or Florida, we'll never know. But to say that USC would get stomped by any team just because the Pac is weak is just plain ignorant. Penn State was contending for a title, and look what we did to them. you never really know how a team is going to match up and perform until they play, otherwise what would be the point.

I have been following the team for the past 5 years and I will say we aren't as good as we have been, and I wouldn't say we are necessarily national champion status but we are pretty damn good. I wasn't paying too much attention to the announcing but that isn't our fault, it is ABC. Playing at the Rose Bowl also isn't our fault, it is the BCS so don't blame us for things that we have no control over.

And as for Pac 10 comments 5-0 in the bowl games this year.

We are still pretty good and I think it would be stupid for anyone to deny that so bash all you want but we got a pretty strong team, and I think we could have a fair game if we were at the national championship, not saying it is anything definite like we would for sure win, but it would be a good match up. The Trojans played great and Steve Sarcesian is finally out of here

And now time to listen to everyone who hates us reply back

-Fight On!
right on brother. not that it matters anymore, but the OC was spelled Sarkisian.

not to be arrogant, but its only natural for fans to hate teams that have been consistently great. its hard to deny that USC has had a lot of talent and success over that last few years. So man up, and give respect where respect is due.
