Thumbs down Radar Detectors! Rant..

I need a good radar detector, im sick of getting pulled over all the time. Before i used to speed on purpose, now i just get pulled over for not paying attention. DOH!! Today 60 in a 45...Not in a bit of hurry just looking at the countryside, which was beautiful by the way, and cherries!!Happy friggin New Year to me..... Ive never owned on and i dont know a thing about them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Valentine 1.

5.5 years, 200,000 miles. No tickets. 1 pull-over: I-59, late at night, no one else on the road, long sweeping left curve, trooper was at the end of the curve, I saw "STATE TROOPER" on the back of his car, hit the brakes & V1 went off full scale. I pulled over so quickly, he idled up the breakdown lane behind me. We exchanged pleasantries & he ran my license. Clocked me at 81 in a 70 (I had cruise control at 90 before I saw him). Let me go with a warning.

I'm 53. It's happened exactly twice since I turned 16. Both times my license was totally clean.

Ive had probably 9 or 10 in the last 8 years.... At least half of them i was either following cars down the highway or I got one loaded down with mulch pulling a trailer going down hill around a curve, and when the curve ended it was 35 and a cop was there....Like i could stop from 55 to 35 with all that weight! I had never been down that road before either!.. Grrr i hate the law....Sorry to those of you with a badge! Give a honest man a break!

I drive with the drivers window craked open a little bit, the sound of the rushing air reminds me to slow down.

I recommend an Escort all the way. My dad has a new one and I have an older one (7 years or older) and both are perfect.

I got an Escort 8500 refurb from escort for $150 shipped. Brand new condition and full warranty. Nice detector. I have been using an escort for 20 years and can't complain.

I've got a Cobra. Won't recommend it, though.

Start paying attention, and you wouldn't have this problem.

That kinda worries me..."now I just get pulled over for not paying attention." Please don't plow into me or anyone else when you cruise through a stop sign or a red light because you weren't paying attention.

Are you legally allowed to use a radar detector? Or do you have to shove it out of sight should you get pulled up for something other than a radar related offense?

Since no one else has really said this, I will. Here's a simple solution to your problem and it'll save you the cost of a radar detector: Pay attention when your driving and follow the speed limit. This is guaranteed to resolve any "problems" you have with being pulled over.
