i would get the one that you can mount under the dash and has LED's you mount to warn you.... very slick system.

i had a 40.00 cobra that i used for a year... sure it worked, but when the cop doesnt turn it on untill he see's you, your screwed...

i was all alone on the highway and wassn't paying much attention to my speed, it creeped up to what the cop said was 67 mph.... he came out of NO where...

first thing he said was, radar detector didn't help you much did it? apparently not sir...
i got a obstruction of view ticket for 130 bucks, and the radar detectors been out ever since...
talked to an ex cop and he said they just **** cops off, and you have a very high chance that you will get a warning with out a detector, and a ticket with one...

but if it is hidden, who knows it's there?

There is NO wood in my truck, other than the 2x4's in my bed... but yup, less and less wood, and more and more plastic. So I'd assume if plastic came before wood, it'd be "knock on plastic"....

I think the wood has something to do with leprechauns, doesn't it?

I've heard of radar detector detectors. I don't speed on the highways anymore.. much.. If i'm in a hurry I will be sitting straight up constantly scanning for cops. If it's at night, I will slow down when I know i'm approaching a set of headlights. Learned that lesson the hard way

Yep. Only speeding tickets I ever got was when I was speeding and not paying attention....kinda of an oxymoron...driving fast and not paying attention.

Also don't forget about pacing, airplanes and laser...detectors mostly give a false sense of security.

Store and bank alarms, some traffic lights still set them off?

CB Radios and HAM radios will set them off too.. especially when you get into the SHF bands at a pretty good amount of power...

Better be careful -- that's hard on brakes.......

So if you have a pickup with commercial tags you can't have one?

If the speed limit on the interstate is 65, I set my cruise at around 69 or 70---71 tops. You are not going to get there much faster, and the faster you do go, the more you stick out to the cops...

One time, when I was reffing, I did a test and drove to the college to ref at around 80 MPH---yep, I was a fool, but I didn't get caught. On the way back, took the same route and traveled at 70---I arrived at home 12 minutes slower than the time it took to get to the school. Is 12 minutes worth spending all that money and still risking a ticket?

And I do second that, while on an interstate, I use a CB---every trucker in the world knows exactly where the traps are, or if the cop is moving and in which direction.

Illegal in commercial vehicles under state law: Illinois, New York (specifically, commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds (4,500 kg) and all vehicles over 18,000 pounds (8,200 kg)) Also illegal in all commercial vehicles over 10000lbs under US federal law

So yes, that implies the F150 if you've got commercial plates.

Wow---9-10 in 8 years! You just simply need to slow down...and tell me, who is your insurance with, and what ungodly sum do you have to pay to get coverage?

Well this is news to me. I didn't know my old F150 Weighed over 10,000lbs. No wonder our driveway started cracking.

I agree. When I bought mine, I was driving 500-700 miles at a stretch, all interstate, 4 times each month. 90 mph vs 70 mph makes a difference. For me it was an acceptable level of risk. Well maintained vehicle, alert driver, etc. If it was raining or heavy traffic, I just slowed down.

Now I drive though 5 "cities" one way to work each day. All have their own police force, all looking to make a buck. I also drive through 6 intersection with red light cameras. I keep it on just as a reminder.
