What do you guys think about the 09 Fusion

My mother needs a car. She doesnt need all the fancy options at all. She just needs something reliable that will get her to and from her doctors. I was thinking about helping her get a Fusion. Right now I'm looking at the I4 SE model which seems to be nice. Any feedback would be great.

Here is the different Models

Here is the Window Sticker

With the Employee Pricing Plan this car actually comes out to $17,862

My wife bought an 08 Fusion in March, it's a great car. I've seriously considered getting rid of my F-150 to buy one for myself. It's quiet, comfortable, smooth and get's 31 MPG on the highway (V6) and it's great in the snow.

I haven't bought a car for myself since 1971, but I have told my wife if I ever buy a car for us it will be a Fusion. I have not driven one, but sat in one in the showroom. I like them a lot!! Looks like a good price on this one.

I've driven the SEL V-6's and loved them. Everyone I've talked to loves them too, even the 4 banger. People say it impresses them how "peppy" it is. I'd say go for it.

Three of our officers drive them for their personal vehicles. One has the baseline I4 one has the decked out I4 but it doesn't have a nav, the other has a decked out v6 but it doesn't have a nav either. All of them seem to be really happy with their vehicles. One of them went from a 2005 GMC Envoy, and the other switched from an 07 Chevy Z71.

Great cars. One of the best cars Ford has built in a long time.

I had a I4 Fusion as a rental car. I liked driving it around. It was pretty nice.

I've had Fusions on numerous occassions as a rental car and have never failed to be impressed. While the V6 is nice, and is the way I would go if I were buying one (there's only a 2 mpg difference between the 4-banger) I have also had the I4's and found them surprisingly strong. Either way I suspect you would be happy with the vehicle!

Well if it was for me, I would go with the V6 but its for my mother and she doesn't need any extra bells and whistles. I'm looking for something reliable with a warranty.

I wonder ,has there been any quality issues with either of the engines or transmissions? I've learned to look a little closer, since a couple of experiences I've had, that I could have avoided with a little research.
I don't know anything about either of them, but I have learned, some have their little quarks.
I learned the hard way. Just a little food for thought. Like the intake gaskets on the 4.2. I read about cam phaser issues, spark plug fly aways, just the things like that, Just do a little research, it will pay off in $'s or just piece of mind.

Do you perform your mother's maintenance? the 4 cylinder has an in-the-pan filter from what I read on the Fusion forums, and the V6 has an easily accessible FL-820. I wanted my wife to get the 4, but I'm glad she got the 6 now. Then again, I haven't had to change the plugs yet.

None that I'm really aware of. The V6 is the same basic 3.0L DOHC Duratec that was first used in '96 in the Taurus and Sable, and Mazda has used the same basic 2.3 liter four cylinder since '01 or '02. They're really good cars, just change the oil every now and then and put gas in them.
