Browns fan ticketed....

For driving his couch to the game.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,467224,00.html

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns fan Mike Meredith is a couch potato with a cause.

Meredith has a motorized sofa — the "Go-Kouch" — that he usually rides around a municipal parking lot for tailgate parties before games.

But on Nov. 23, he decided to take the couch, a converted riding mower, the extra two blocks to the Browns' stadium for a game with Houston. Meredith said several police officers waved him through. One didn't, issuing him citations for driving an unregistered vehicle and having expired plates.

Meredith pleaded not guilty and will argue his case in court Tuesday. He has prepared a defense, walking the couch route and snapping pictures of every officer who gave him the go-ahead.

He could receive fines or community service in lieu of payment if he loses.

That's pretty darn funny.

Here ya go...supposedly he has done it at every home game---many of the police officers just laugh and wave him through.

Sucks he got ticketed, but if it is against the law, it is against the law. Fighting it because other officers have just let it go, is just a **** poor excuse that actually can affect the rest of us.

If I was an officer, I wouldn't let stuff slide anymore. Just because of people like this. If you are gonna break the law, don't complain the day you get caught.

thats a stupid ticket. during game day in auburn, you can do about anything you want.

have not seen one minor ticketed for MIP. you can park basically any where with out ticket all day. including yellow and fire zones. if you had a motorized couch here and were on campus or the surrounding roads there is no chance for ticket unless maybe you were drinking and driving...

I agree it is a stupid ticket, but I think the guy is a complete douchebag for taking pictures of the cops that were nice enough to let it pass. Why would he call attention to the nice cops that didn't ticket him, and say he shouldn't be ticketed because they weren't doing there job.

I think that is outrageous.

First, it is not going to hurt anyone more than if he rode a bike and probably goes much slower. Secondly, other law enforcement officials gave him the ok, and in this case more than one. Lastly, it's not something he drives around daily in.

It has nothing to do with authority or laws... some people just find ways to make other's lives more difficult.

I would be pissed off if some jackass drove his couch into my truck in a parking lot. I'm pretty sure his insurance doesn't cover that. I doubt that he has the money to pay for damages if he is guilt tripping everyone to pay for his tickets. The guy didn't have enough common sense not to drive a modded lawn mower/couch to an NFL stadium. Even if it is just the Browns.

Did he think it was legal? Just because a cop didn't stop him? He was driving an unregistered vehicle and had expired plates. Common sense would tell you not to go to a place with a seating capacity of over 70 thousand. You might get more attention than you want. I don't know how many fans actually waste time going to a Browns game, but I know the NFL stadiums have plenty of law enforcement around the place.
