Talking

Taking two spaces here.So afraid that they damage my doors.
And what about length, sometimes the truck is sticking out 1 yard, and I have only a regular cab.
We are not used to this kind of big trucks.

I just do what your supposed to do.

Put the center of the hood on the white, or yellow line.

Better yet - pull into one of those ones at the front - you know, with them wheel chair markings on them.

Just KIDDING

Hey, didn't I read in one of the other postings that the handicapped spaces were for 4.6l engines only? No, skip that thought, we don't want to go there!

I park as far away from any other car or truck as I can I had no dents or dings in my Mustang when I traded it off and hope to keep the Truck from getting any battle scars as well.

Went to Wal-Mart last Saturday- took up 5 parking places and still had parts sticking out into the aisle. They just don't make spots for full-sized SUVs pulling boats!

Angry

Last month I got transferred to another building here in Denver. It has its own parking garage which is cool. I always try to park on certain levels which have oversized spaces. One day on the way up to these spaces, I spotted a space on the end next to a column. I parked as close to the column as I could and left plenty of room to the line on the driver side. When I came out that night, I had a ticket on my window for "parking a full sized vehicle in a compact spot". Due to the way I parked I was not close to the other parking space, but I still got a ticket. I went storming down to the parking office the next day, slammed the ticket on the guy's desk and told him that when they start ticketing compact cars for parking in the full sized spaces, I would pay this, otherwise ()&^^*&%^*_(_(!!!!!! He said I did not have to pay the ticket but that next time I would. Normally I would not think of parking in a "compact" space, but this one was not small. Thats what I get for trying to keep my truck dent-free.

Thumbs up

I have no qualms about taking more than one space. As long as my Super-Duty Crew-Cab Long-Bed is, it's easy to "hang out" into another space.
At work, they have a section for "Compacts" that is usually empty. I park smack in the middle of 4 of those spots.
I also head for the "back forty" when at the mall. My wife and I enjoy the walk. So far, no dings.

I am handicaped and use the handicap parking spaces all the time.

If I had to say there was any kind of advantage to a mobility problem, it's the parking. The spaces are large and usually readily available. The Black Beast behaves quite nicely when parked where I can see her.

I have had the door busters do a total number on my vehicles in the past, and learned one thing: If you look at the car your about to park next to and see paint scrapes, door dings (especially dents, probably from irate owners who found a nasty surprise when they got back to thier vehicle), then I find another place.

People who don't have marks on thier vehicles usually respect other people and hope the same is returned. This is a rule of thumb and not an absolute, but it does pay off from time to time.

With a vehicle like the Black Beast, you must care for them like babies, and I do my best. I would be sick if someone abused my 'lil Beastie that way.

Yeah really I agree about that.
If you park next to a "clean" car or truck you have better odds.
Unfortunately, the car that was parked there when you got there isn't normally there when you leave.

Fast - of course I was kidding - I see people with no dissabilities parking in handicaped spots & it bugs the _ _ it out of me - no big wars here, but I give them "the evil eye".

I, like many in this forum park in the boonies.

ya'll should try to park in a high school student parking lot with an extended cab, short bed truck!

Fortunatly, one side of my truck was protected by my best friends Mustang, the other side a had a GMC, but the guy was courteous enough to leave my truck alone...
