I like em. They have a ton of cool features on the inside.... Sky roof? Awesome. Fridge? Awesome. It even talks to you "Good morning, Steve." Awesome.

I had to revive this thread. I have a Flex SEL as a rental and it is a great vehicle! It has tons of room, very quiet on the highway and I got 25 mpg from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale.

I am very impressed so far.

What I couldn't figure out after walking around the lot of my local Ford dealer last week (I was actually looking to see if they had a SportTrac Adrenelin on the lot) was how can they manage to get 24 mpg out of a big vehicle like the Flex, but only 26 mpg out of a regular cab-short box version of the Ranger with a 4-banger.....??? Seriously, why can't they get better mileage out of these Rangers?

Oh -- about the Flex. I think they look pretty cool (I especially like the two-tone paint treatment) but after having driven several Taurus-X's as rental cars (that felt like driving a long tube down the road) I can't imagine what it feels like to drive the Flex.....???

Their not that great looking and the mileage isnt great and for the price of a fully loaded AWD there are much better choices out there especially if you look for something used

That was me rolling down the Turnpike in a black Flex with the silver roof.

I did see a sweet 2009 F150 King Ranch. I was drooling.

i went by a ford lot yesterday and they had at least 18 flexes on the lot.

probably will be another gmc to replace her yukon when its time. where we got the yukon they could give the ford dealers in cnetral jersey some lessons in customer service and care
I also will not buy a brand that does not have a decent dealer to sell it. I think you are brilliant for not giving money to these losers, even if they are selling Fords ;-). I think the makers need to figure out that a quality product at a decent price is Job 1. Finding decent people to sell it and service it is Job 1B.

No excuse for bad service. In my case, I will not buy a Chevy or Honda in my area because the local dealers suck (and my last Chevy was a POS). Luckily, I have found 2 good Ford and Lincoln/Mercury dealers to keep me happy. Ford dealer is a mile from my house. The Ford/LM is 2 miles from my work. My wife drives a Mercury Mountaineer.

No wonder the Big 3 need a bail-out...

I went truck shopping with Son #1 this afternoon and evening.
I'm trying like hell to talk him out of the dreaded Taco.
The family is actually in need of three new cars , and I don't know how I'm going topay for the two I will be resposible for.
As I stated in Bill's Fiesta thread I'm needing a windowed midsize van to replace a delivery car. The only options I really need for this auto is power fob locks[so the engine can be left running while locking the car with a fob.
The Flex's cargo area fits my bill, but is there a stripped down version? I'm going to research this, but I doubt they do. I just thought maybe someone here could shoot from the hip and tell me. The sticker price is waaaaay to far out of range for my needs.

i drove thru the lot and it looks like the same flexes are sitting there. have only seen one or two on the road. i have some time before my wife needs a replacement for her leased gmc suv. the place i leased that at is 45 miles from my house. there are 5 ford dealers closer than that. but i still went with a non ford since they closed the only good ford dealer down.

Styling wise.... Let's just say people either love it or hate it. We weren't really into it.

fyi, we ended up going with a Ford Taurus X Cross Over and love it. AWD, third row seating, leather, DVD for the kids. This thing is Sweet! Built on a Volvo Chassis with a Ford Drive train.

They need to come up with a better name for it though....

No offense but that has to be the ugliest vehicle in Ford's current lineup.

On edmunds.com/insideline they have a long term blog where they have a fleet of 30 cars, trucks, and suv's they test for 1 year or 20,000 miles. Right now they have a Flex in their fleet and almost all their posts are something positive about the Flex. I think they're a damn good looking vehicle. Beats the hell out of a minivan.
