Hurricane Floyd
I am sure it has been on the news but DO NOT underestimate Floyd, he is about 5-6 times the size of Andrew and even more powerful. I live on the west coast of Florida and I remember Andrew quite well as small as it was we still felt our share of it. East coasters be careful, it may be headed your way and this is no Dennis. I will be watching throughout the day and bracing as needed.

SeaCrow: you sure got that right!! I am now permanatly tuned into the weather channel. I keep hoping that beast will go somewhere else but then I hope that the somewhere else isn't on the coast either. I sure wish this thing would just curve and go back out to sea but every time I check the weather it's still headed for Florida. Dennis was a walk in the park, this one scares me. I'm really praying for anyone unlucky enough to be in it's path.
North Ga. here.
Our prayers and best wishes as well.
We are "only" scheduled for 75 mph.

If I lived within the vicinity of that thing, I'd jump in my truck and head for the hills. I think I'm far enough away, living up here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. That coast must be the most frequently hit area for hurricanes. How can the insurance company's stay in business?

The rain is already starting to fall here in Orlando. Winds are steady at about 15 and gusting to the 30's. I'll let you know how I'm doing as long as there is power to the pc.

Just talked to my brother at lunch (he's in Mrytle Beach, S.C). He said they had a mandatory evac starting at noon their time. While I was talking to him, he said it just started to pour. Needless to say, he's headed a few hours inland to ride this one out. The also just closed our Orlando branch for the company I work for. Doesn't look good. Take care all and good luck.

West Palm Beach, Florida here, about 5:30p.m. and the eye is due East about 170 miles. We're having sustained winds around 20 m.p.h. and gusting frequently to maybe 40-50 m.p.h. and it looks like we're gonna get lucky and not get hurricane force winds. The F150 worked as hard as anyone else yesterday and this morning hauling plywood and ladders (and sitting in lines). Good luck to everyone to the North. Definitely board up, it's worth the peace of mind even if the eye doesn't hit.... Nap time!
If I were you (people on east coast) I would point this at Floyd

I don't know how I missed it, but that is one really impressive truck you have there.
Looking at your signature, I sort of suspect that you have more invested in yours than I do in my pretty near stock Lightning.
Without trying to steal your "moniker" do you have extra copies of your signature on the back of your truck? I would gladly buy one to add to the graphics on my HobbyTown USA Lightning "delivery vehicle". Since we live about 1500 miles apart, no one would ever know it was your "signature".

Here in Atlanta we are expecting strong winds and rain from Floyd. I work for Home Depot, you would not believe what this company is doing to get ready for this thing.....I sat in on a stategy meeting today that would blow your mind. Home Depot is going to mobilize literally "thousands" of employess to get there when and if the damage is done. Not to mention the supplies and materials being rerouted "Nationwide" to this area to help in recovery if necessary.Food, water, building materials.......some free, some at COST !!!!
Talk about feeling pride for the company you work for, that would be me....and yes, I will load my F-150 to the gills and take the ride there with my fellow associates.....if you live in this area give the Corporate Office in Atlanta a call if you would like to volunteer.......

Well JohnB:
If you want perhaps the fastest delivery truck around, I do have my HobbyTown USA Lightning available in Kennesaw, about 2 minutes away from the Barrett Parkway Home Depot.
We have also volunteered the truck to help out HobbyTown USA owners on the Fl.,Ga. and SC. coast as well as a couple of other HobbyTown owners who have UGH! Dodge and Chevrolet trucks.
I am really pleased at the genuine concern and willingness to help from both large and small organizations in this period of real problems.
