2000 F-150 Changes

I noticed a few people that post here have been asking what's changing on the 2000 F-150. I'm seriously considering buying a new F-150 and was wondering if I should wait on the 2000. I made a trip down to my local Ford dealer and made a copy of a page in there little black 3-ring binder and thought this might help someone in my same situation. They don't have the new pricing yet but have started ordering the 2000 models already. They let me spec one out like I wanted and placed the order (with no obligation to buy when it arrives in September). Anyway, here is the text from the page that I copied....

2000 F-150 Major Product Changes

OVERVIEW

The 2000 F-150 is essentially carryover from the 1999 model year with minor exterior and interior enhancements. However, a major improvement in the availability of 5.4L Triton V-8 engines will allow dealers to better meet customers' needs for higher of 5.4L, SuperCabs, Lariats, and 4x4's. In addition, to provide more axle alternatives to customers who are more fuel economy conscious, P235 tires are now available with the larger-ratio 3.55 axle, and the lower-ratio 3.31 axle is now standard on many models, with available 3.55 ratio.

This is great info, damorris. Thanks for sharing. Was there any word on the Crew Cab F-150, like when it will be available and whether the base equipment will include the 5-speed and 6 cyl?

Great! I've had my regular cab Lariat 3 months and it's been discontinued. They have also dropped my exterior and interior colors. My choices are the kiss of death.
Come to think of it, I did go onto that lot looking for a new Probe.

Raoul,

Ford may want a picture of your truck to assist people in what not to buy due to lack of interest ...........

My wife said I could also put a picture of me in the Personals column if I don't get off this truck kick.

Don't feel too bad Raoul, I also have one of those collector item's. Only Ford didn't discontinue my colors. Kinda glad they did quit making the Lariat regular cab though, I never see them now, chances are better I won't see any more popping up now that everyone see's how great they look!!! I wonder if they will be able to retrofit '99s with the drivers grab handle and the overhead console.

JA-stang86...I have to agree with you there. At one time I was going to try to customize a passenger side A-pillar handle for the driver's side. If you can't tell, I need one. Let me know when the parts come out. I wish I had a console too. Maybe when some unlucky people wreck them in a year or so I can find a deal (hope they don't get hurt though).

Damorris was on the money with all of the new updates on the 2000s, but when i ordered mine in mid June (F-150 Lariet S/C) the invoice shows that the 17" rims are going to be mounted on 275/70s OWL. I believe i heard the salesman say, that the XLTs were getting this tire also, remember i think i heard him right.....
Also the new rims will be chrome with alum centers...Sure hope Ford doesn't mess them up too bad, i liked what came on the 99s,just have to wait and see.
Take Care, DC

dogcam, your '00 Lariat will have 275s on 17" chromed-steel wheels. They will most likely look nothing like what I have on my '99 Lariat. But I should have waited for the 2000 trucks myself, I would really like to have that overhead console. Oh well.
