[QUOTE=Old Dogg™;3453710]Get it right Dave!
Here is what he said about people in Pennsylvania not the south...

("You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.")

youre right about the location, but the sentiment is the same.

No man it wasn't ok.
I never stereotyped him as a redneck.
Never stereotyped him as a racist.
I don't throw around words like redneck or racist at the drop of a hat or use them lightly. I don't usually call names on the internet unless im provoked.
Many here do though.
Saying racist things does not necessarily make you a racist.
Many here mix up racist and racism.
They are ignorant.

Im not sure what your sentiment is but I took it that he was speaking about people getting kicked around and beat down and all they have left is their guns and religion.
People focused on the guns and religion out of context.
It would not fit their negative view if what he was saying was something slightly understanding or positive like, "all they have left is this" after loosing everything else.

I know it would fit your stereotype better if he said the words towards southerners but context and facts do matter if you quote someone.
Good grief man did you read anything I posted? I said I didn't find it funny.
I gave an OPINION of why it was not to me.
Now you and others think feelings were hurt because I disagree with your assessment of a joke?
All of you need to take your own advice and drink a beer and get over it.
I don't have to like your jokes, you don't have to like what I think.

We as Americans are entitled to free speech and opinions.
Why is your opinion any better than mine?
Also you need to look up the word stereotype (noun).
You have no clue.
I know what it means, my apologies, just got done working 14 hours, im a little out of it.

Regardless, we will agree to disagree on it being funny.

Then I guess that we are at an impasse. We must agree to disagree as the cliche' goes.

I was not offended by the "clinging to guns and religion" comment. I just went out and made some special purchases, and prayed a little more. I am not offended with folks laughing at the implication of the limo with spinners. You are offended by both, but never stood up for Bush or the "clingy" folks. Thats where I take issue....

I like how you can justify the statement. Lets juxtapose Obamas statement with a different geographical location and some new verbage, and just for fun say that McCain said it.

"You go into some of these ghetto areas in California and New York, and like a lot of ghetto urban cities on the east and west coast, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to malt-liquor and violence or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-FUBU or anti-gang sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.")
Do ya get a feel for it now? Does it take on a little different connotation if McCain had said the above. Can you justify it when someone with a different ideology other than yours makes such a statement?

I guess you could say that people would take the malt liquor and violence out of context...

Shines, I honor your attempt at making someone see the light, but we both know its futile. I wouldn't waste my time.
