Yeah, and Tx was the only one McCain won that had any significant electoral votes... BFD... You win OH, PA, NY, FL, IL all before 4 pm pst and it's a done deal....

He lost the pop vote too, so it's moot anyway, but it really makes me feel like voting nationally is worthless when it goes this way for us on the West coast.. We still had people standing in line waiting to vote when it was basically broadcast that Obama was leading the electoral votes by a ton....

Yeah, if we had gone by pop vote, Gore would have won in 2000.... Then we'd be bashing the hell out of him and even Fred Thompson or Ralph Nader could have won the election in 2008...

I knew he had 77 in the bank on the west coast.
I was looking for 193 East of the Mississippi for the win.
I knew it was over at 8pm EST or so when they called PA.

As far as state size goes, you can win the election with just the 11 biggest states.

A candidate could win 39 states plus DC and still lose the election.

More people voted for Obama than any other president, EVER.
i am sure population growth has nothing to do with more people voting in 2008 than say in 1870.

im not saying it was close, but to act like it was some "landslide victory" that united the nation is probably more gloating than anything else. LBJ in 64 was a landslide victory. obama in 08 was pretty normal when you look at history.

I saw an interesting map, yesterday. It was a US map that showed each county in blue or red. You would be shocked at how few "miles" or counties that Obama won. Basically, he won the big cities, even Houston. there was so little blue on the map, you had to search for it.

gore, nah i wouldnt be happy but we'd have better choices today if that was the case lol. oh and global warming would have been a really massive issue, so you'd be going green cause al gore invented the net.

i believe i have made it clear i thought the victory was by a normal margin when taken in the context of previous elections. normal being not close and not a landslide....

We are willing to relinquish 'Major landslide' if you will consider 'Minor landslide'.

Recall that in '04 we gladly gave in on 'Normal' victory, and let you run amuck with 'Abnormal'.

What's funny is, Bush considered his Margin of victory in 2004 a "Mandate from the People" to continue his policies.. That's worked out real well...

Regardless of the population size, 7% is 7%. I'm OK with "Minor Landslide" though.

7 million votes is by no means a landslide, and 52.4% to 46.2% is very close. You can forget all the electoral college crap, that has nothing to do with uniting a country. My point was, everyone knows that the country was split over bush, its no argument. However when Obama has 2%( around 2 million votes) more than bush, all of a sudden its a landslide victory and the country is united. Thats BS

I saw on the news were newspapers were being sold out yesterday because people were buying them because the entire front page was a pic of Obama and the words "Change has come to America" and stuff like that....

People are selling copies for $600 on ebay.... "Own a piece of history" is what one said as he was selling copies on a street corner...

That's just too funny.... The interviews with "Joe Public" on the street is really funny too... They all seem to think and believe that come January, it's all going to be all gumdrops and candyland or something.... Oh well, at least people are happy again, so maybe that's enough to make a 'change'...

McCain is Not Bush. If Obama wanted to run against Bush he should have ran 4 years ago!
