Analyzing the Election
OK---it happened---but why? Who did Obama reach---or what did McCain not do that caused this? Don't give the standard "people are stupid" line---obviously, with Obama winnng states that were previusly Red, sush as Ohio and Pa, something must have take place? People, for some reason, changed their ballots from 2004. What were the possible reasons?
What was it? How was it won---or lost?

Too many voters used the "no more Bush" reason without thinking. It was already a democratic majority that screwed us but people only saw the republican in charge. It was reactionary voting instead of intelligent thought. Unfortunately race was an issue as well. People should always vote for the most qualified person and not jump on the popularity bandwagon.
We are going to have to look to the better side of things. There has een alot of bullying, by the powers that have been. Some parts of the world hate the US for it's policy. Such as being the policeman of the world since WWII.
Te gunboat deplomacy. To some, the taking of what is theirs, even keeping foreign Dictaters under control.
I think Obama will be tested very soon. Let's hope he will surprise us. The other posibility could be, our enemies may look at us a different way, and the past ineffective diplomacy is going to change the core of the hatred toward us. Although The Democrats that have held office in my lifetime have not, been good with foreign affairs. Obama has grown up in many different places of the World. He may have a better handle on it than we know. The Most important thing , is to keep our morale high. I was in Carter's Army and for peacetime it was at a low.
Maybe he'll be sworn in with Thomas Jefferson's Quran, and the spirit of this Country will survive. He isn't the first non Christian to hold that post.
The laws built in, will stop him from oppresing other religions. The ones that have crie out about no Nativity scenes and religion on our Court House lawns and other things, are now to learn why our Constitution is written that way.
There is also the possibility, that some of these scoundrels of the past, could actualy be feedom fighters from within. We can't condone some things that have been done in the past. But new voices are going to be heard, all we can do is hope they will better our Country. The vote yesterday screamed for change. We have no choice but to look to the future and make the best of it. This is going to be a New Begining. History will have to wait, to determine if it's good.
If we think we're being dealt lemons, all we need to do is make the lemonaid. So let's make the best of this , for it is to be the evolution of our nation.
Let's all pray it will be good.

It sure was hard to watch some "African-"Americans in Grant Park last night tossing up signs as the cameras rolled by them. I hate that I'm about to type this, but it seems as though a lot of the "African-"Americans I saw on TV in Grant Park last night had that "what will I get now" look on their faces. The Kool-Aid sure was gulped hard and fast by the uneducated, and those that only take the "news" at face value instead of doing their own research.
I asked some of my friends at school (white and black alike) why they voted for Obama, and they could only say "Change". Trying to press them on the issues only led to a fight in which they couldn't give a straight answer about anything. I guess that could be forgiven, seeing as who they voted for doesn't give straight answers either.
I can only hope that my suspicions about the President-elect aren't true, and that he won't be trying to pass the legislation necessary to transform our great nation into an even greater "Mommy state". However seeing as how Congress is a Democratic majority again (that's scarier, I think) Obama is going to get a "blank check" and do a lot of things fast. And since Congress is at an all-time low in approval rating, they're going to work as hard as possible with Obama to get lots of big, "important" legislation passed to help their causes for the next go round of elections, to seem as if they're "doing the will of the people."
McCain was not a good enough candidate and he did not run a good campaign.
Basically, the Republican primary failed to produce the best Republican candidate. Not surprising, really, when you allow open primaries where non-Republicans can vote and the process is front loaded to help a moderate.
Also, a huge factor was the current state of the economy. Unfair as it may be, the blame was put on Bush's doorstep, when Congress deserves plenty as well.

Does anyone want to step to the plate and explain the fact that Obama had 3/4 of a BILLION dollars spent on this campaign? Some of those funds never had their source of origin known, which looks quite bad to me.
Now we know what $750 million can buy you in America.

I try not to get involved in political discussions. But this is Scary people!! Americans just wanted a new face in the white house. Obama has a hell of a mouth piece and we ate him up! Wondering what he will do with the troops
This country elected Obama because of the total failure of the Republican Party to live up to it's promises. Remember the Contract with America? It's where the Republicans said they would reduce Government and spending. Just the opposite happened. We have far more debt and far more Government than under the Clintons. The Republicans have nobody to blame but themselves. But I don't think Obama is going to be the answer and frankly, I don't think the winner of this election had a chance to make a second term. I highly doubt that the Democrats can turn this thing around in 4 years and folks are going to watching more than ever. Obama will be tested not only by other countries but the citizens as well. And if McCain had been elected, it would be the same. All I can say is hold on to what you have and be ready to defend it.
Yep -- the Republicans "screwed the pooch" by becoming Democrats once they took power. From backing away from the pledge for term limits, to expanding already bankrupt social programs -- with results like that, we might as well have just had the Democrats in there!
Barack is a fantasy who will likely wilt under the pressures of being President with no script to follow. The mainstream media will do their best to prop him up, but at the end of the day the results will be obvious. He will likely be a bigger disappointment to his followers than to his detractors, as they already expect the worst from him and will likely get something less than that.
Obama has "4 years and out" written all over him -- let's just hope there's another Ronald Reagan on the other side!

here we go
1. Palin hurt McCain
2. The election came at a bad time (wall street crash)
3. Uneducated people thinking that just because Bush and McCain are both republicans, then that automatically thinks that they are the same
4. Media bought the election, an average of 70 percent of the stories by tv media was against McCain. Fox news was 40% against Obama and 40% agaisnt McCain but yet people still think Fox is strictly republican
5. Obama got a lot of the African American vote
6. Obama raised a crap load more money (some from other countries like Pakistan)
7. I think that McCain could have done a little better in running his campaign
Me and my buddies played a drinking game last night. We had picture in picture on the tv with 3 different news channels going. Every time we saw an african american holding/wearing any type of McCain gear, we would drink. I did not drink last night. I still think its sad that in todays society that race play such an imprtant roll for people. Why is it so hard to judge people by their qualites and issues instead of religion and race?

There will never be another Reagan, but we sure could use someone like him again.
There are some promising conservatives out there. Time to start a new conserative movement and groom them for the future.
BTW, don't be too sure Obama will only get one term.
