If it was a McCain-Obama golf match, McCain would have had a 25 handicap because of Bush.

McCain started out way behind. I think he ran a good campaign but there would have had to have been biblical intervention for him to win.

Obama obviously got to younger voters, he registered more voters, he spent WAY more money (makes you think about him telling the country he would take public funds and then not taking them) I undertand that more people voted for him, but this is the best example of buying the white house. He got a huge percentage of the minority vote. He won because the media and all the magazines portrayed him as a messiah, and demonized the republicans.

People of America are ready for change, but don't understand what kind of change he will bring.

All in all we will live. Carter had control of the house and senate I believe, and all he did was swing us back to true conservatism.

This is Simple, The Republican's have been in charge the last 8 years, and the last 8 years have Sucked.

Simple Fact: If the Democrats had been in charge the last 8 years, Even with a Republican Congress the last two, the REPUBLICANS would have Swept through these elections this year.

Even with the Same money, same candidates, same campaign, same Conspiracy theories, etc...

In case you've forgotten, the country is facing it's Worse Financial crisis since the Great Depression...

Oh yea, Palin was about the Worst Pick for VP you could have come up with....

This is just a theory but,

Raoul came out early for Obama, and by using convoluted logic and made up statistics, he slowly but shirley convinced the majority of the General Discussion population, one member at a time.

(is this the right time/place to mention buyers remorse?) :o

Basically the mainstream media was responsible for the election of Obama. I still just dont understand how people could vote someone in that refuses to be patriotic. He claims that he doesnt want to take sides but by him unfortunately being elected our new president I really hate that my family and I have to deal with the bullsh*t that all of his supporters got us into.

In case you have forgotten BHibbs the reason we are in this financial crisis dates back to when congress went majority democrat. They indirectly forced banks to loan out money on sub prime mortgages. They actually allowed people to claim government funding as income in order to obtain housing. So before you make a comment about the "financial crisis" we are in please do your reasearch and find the sources and reasons why we are in our economic condition

IMO, the "R" party was doomed from the begining... There was another post quoting an article from the WSJ about how much of the country 'hated' Bush and anything he stood for... I think even Scary Kerry could have won this election!

The real problem was some of Bush's initial picks for cabinet positions and sure, some things he said and did, but when it all comes down to it, it was a collective cluster **** that occurred over the last 8 years from all involved from Congress and up thru the halls of the West Wing that has brought us to this situation.

If Gore was in from 2000 on, would we be any better or worse off? Who knows, but I'll bet most of the same chain of events that has occurred would have occurred on his watch too..

Palin was a nice surprise thing to unleash at the convention, but that wore off real quick about a week after we started hearing her speak... Well, it did for me anyway..

No, the "R" party had zero chance this election year... Just like was said above.. Had the "D's" been in office the last 8 years, even Fred Thompson could have been elected...

ha, ha!!

I can tell you we are in for a 'change'... It's just what kind of 'change' is that going to be??

I do think Palin, in the end, hurt him more than she helped him right after the convention.

Somehow, though, Obama convinced enough of the swing-votes" in Ohio. Pa, MC, Virginia to vote for him.

What was it? How was it won---or lost?

IMHO this country has been divided rural/urban for a couple of decades now. Looking at the electoral college map and the popular vote both tell the story.

That said, we really need to come to a common ground in this country if we are to make the right (correct) changes. That is the only way.

Yeah, I've actually Done my research on this issue, and you're explanation is Totally Wrong.

This housing boom started in 2002, Years before the dems gained control of congress and started their Two years of a Lame Duck Congress/President.

Basically EVERYONE was taking advantage of these sub-prime mortgages, including the Rich and Middle class. Not all of this mess is even from people buying new houses, its from SECOND mortgages on existing homes, Home Equity lines of credit, etc... They were giving Sub Prime loans to people that qualified, and Could AFFORD, conventional loans...

They've had senate hearings about this, you should read up...

Interesting point here---in Ohio, even Cincinnati---a long time Republican strong hold, voted for Obama. The Columbus, Ohio Dispatch----its newspaper, endorsed McCain, but Franklin county---Columbus and its suburbs, was heavily for Obama. Rural western Ohio (the I-75 corridor) voted for McCain.

One thing we can all be thankful for.....it wasn't close.

Want to see the fabric of a Nation torn?.....
.....have Barack win by a mere 700,000 rather than 7 million.

....have the electoral race come down to one big state rather than four or five big ones.

The legions of lawyers for both sides were reportedly standing by, we can be thankful it didn't come to that.

ACORN? They fell off the radar screen fast.
Five hour waits because some 'select' precincts were shorted on machines?
People just stood in line without complaint, digging in their heels refusing to be disinfranchised, with a smile.
