Pork in the "New" $700 Billion Bailout Bill

$223M for Alaskan Fisherman
$192M for Rum Producers in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands
$128M for Auto Racing
$33M for companies operating in American Samoa
$10M for Film & TV Production
$6M for Producers of Wooden Arrows

Are they serious?!!! What the hell are they thinking? Wooden arrows? Jeezus Khrist. We are so screwed. - Og

wooden arrows are for obamas "robin hood" tax plan

but seriously it is a little crazy. i recall reading that most of them though were extensions of previous tax breaks.

Can someone enlighten me? I thought the bailout was to shore up wall street by helping various financial institutions (not that I agree with that either) but what does any of the above crap have to do with that?

i think line item veto is a great thing. didnt they try get it in the 90s but failed? i cant remeber when it was. if i was running for president that would be what i would push for as part of my agenda.

No one would care what I have to say being from Canada and all.

I am just trying to understand what is happening as our economies are linked to a certain extent.

It seems bad, but all that pork equals les than 1% of the total bailout package.

It just looks like a lot of money to us poor folks.

Relax- there's still $699,408,000,000.00 I'm sure will be wisely used on Wall Street.

Ya and $700 billion is only 1% of $70 trillion so what your point?

It's still a crapload of money and we should be worried about it.

1% of 700 Billion is still 7 Billion dollars.

With figures this size even hundreth of percents is a crapload of money.
