"The fundamentals of the economy are strong"
I see that Obama is asking for another economic stimulus program.
I do not see why he feels the government can just blow all of this money on bailouts and stay afloat themselves. We have an unemployment rate of 6.1%, the highest in over 5 years, so maybe trying to create jobs would be the best way to go instead of throwing money around.

Well even though this thread has seriously derailed, I thought I'd throw my .02 in on the original topic. First I'd bet that the OP hasn't seen the entire quote, rather just followed the hype. So I'll do the work for you:
So he is quite clearly not stating that the economy is doing well. In fact, he said quite the opposite. But what does he mean by the "fundamentals of the economy"? Lets ask him.
So rather than saying he thinks we are doing well, he says we are going through a difficult time but believes that the American people have the ability and drive to get through it.
Now, to be fair, his definition of the "fundamentals of the economy" may not be spot on. Economics is not an exact science, so those of us who have studied it realize that many things change from text book to text book. Complicating the matter there is really no definition for the "fundamentals of an economy" so it is open to your personal opinion. Many Economists will state that these things are not the fundamentals, things like GDP, unemployment rate, etc. are the fundamentals. Personally, I think those are just fundamental methods for evaluating the economy, not the "fundamentals". But I'd venture to say if you walked down the street and asked the average person what are the fundamentals of the economy, you'd get more answers along the lines of small business, the workers, etc.

We will clean up Wall Street. We will reform government."

your candidate has flip flopped and zigg zagged all over the place especially ALL of last week and he looks like a complete moron right now.
i don't need to write a long-winded passage.
nothing has derailed... everything is on track.
the smarter people will prevail and Obama will win.
you kill me with your wishful thinking!
don't worry, on November 5th, i'll buy you a box of these to help you with your chronic sobbing.

there's no need to debate you (especially typing on this cell phone while getting paid at work), i just like to see folks like you get excited with this stupid false hope that McSame is going to win! not a chance pal!
you guys are funny!
you guys are funny!
I will do ........you decide
You listen to Sean Hannity on the radio for one week straight (monday through friday).
your parents must be proud.... Typical socialist ideals here folks. You get paid to screw around, while someone else picks up your slack and gets paid the same. No wonder you want Obama in the White House. If your lucky, by the time his first 4 years is up you won't even have to go to work to collect your paycheck. (but you will probably have to stand in line for bread and TP)
ahhhh...
so you do believe Obama will win!
i knew you'd wise up sooner or later.
