9/11 Where were you?
i know theres already another thread goin but i didnt wanna try and jump into that one so here it goes. i know exactly where i was, so where were you guys? it just seems to be one of those things that everyone remembers. infact i havn't talked to one person who hasnt been able to tell me exactly what they were doing.
I had just walked into english class, teacher says "i dont know if you guys have heard yet but a plane has just flown into one of the towers of the world trade center, and that was just about as the other plane hit. i couldn't tell you a single thing about the rest of that day but thats clear as a bell.

I was in Navy bootcamp and I actually graduated from there Sept. 13. We were drilling when they all of a sudden started shutting down the base and telling everyone to go inside. Than they rolled a TV in our room and by then both planes had already hit and the buildings had already collapsed. Again, I couldn't tell you what we did for the rest of the day.
At about this time of the morning I would be driving into work from our cool apartment out in the country. I would have had the windows down, listening to some music on the radio.
When I got to the shop I would have been setting up to go over to one of my bosses (my fathers) old neighbors house. They'd just had a new floor installed in their first floor bathroom. The house is old and there was a lead closet bend. We had to update that piping to properly set the toilet on the new floor.
I got to the house. Nice people. The old woman on the first floor owned the house. Her daughter lived upstairs. I remember gatering my tools from the van and getting set up in the basement to remove the lead closet bend. It was a tight spot and it wan't an easy task.
The old woman upstairs had the TV on. It was pretty loud, but she then was in her '90s. At one point the TV got really loud. I hadn't been paying attention to what she was watching but then I could hear lound and clear. I just listened for a few minutes. I had to go upstair to see. I couldn't believe it.
I called my girl. I think that she'd just woke up. She's got a friend in NYC and I told her to get a hold of him.
Untill this day we were feeling pretty good about our state of being. We'd just signed a purchase and sales agreement to buy our house. It happened but for months, the feeling was uncertainty.
I know some of you have already heard my story. I give it every year. I remeber like it happened yeaterday. I can't forget it.

I was sleeping from working a midnight shift....my sister called me and told me that we were being attached by terrorists - that the WTC had planes flown into them then collapsed, that the Pentagon had been attacked, and that another plane had gone down in PA. I got up and watched the news for hours, wondering what was going to be attacked next.
Terrible day.

I was in biology getting ready to dissect sharks. Our teacher was mid lecture, in the back of the room going over the procedures, when another teacher came running in. She whispered in his ear, and he just went pale. Then the tv gets turned on and we did nothing the rest of that class, and from then on the teachers shut off the tvs and forced us to keep class going. That night football practice was canceled. I then went with my family that evening to church to pray. Man it was just like yesterday, not a good day at all.
I was in my last year of college and woke up early that morning to finish a report I was working on. As usual I had the TV on in the background when the station changed to breaking news. After the first plane hit I was just thinking it might be some horrible accident but when I saw the second plane hit my stomach just sank and knew this was no accident. Spent most of the day watching the news. I was renting a house across from a gas station and I couldn't believe what me and my roomates saw.....the station started to jack up the prices to the $4 range (usually in the $1.60 range) and there was a line all the way down the street waiting to get gas. It was very disappointing to see gas stations taking advantage of the situation. That was a day that I'll never forget.

I was at work, when one of my co-workers came over and told another group of us. We were listening to the radio and looking it up on the internet for more updates. Not a whole lot of actual work got done that day.
NYC
I live in NYC and now I work about two or three blocks from Ground Zero. I remember that day like no other and will never forget it. I remember waking up to sirens and I turned on the news and the WTC was on fire. I live about 20 mins (by car with no traffic) from the city and it seems as if every fire truck, ambulance and partol car was headed towards the city. You could see the smoke from my house.
I recall staring at the tv thinking this can not be serious we another plane was headed toward the second tower. I didnt go to work that day and I dont remember if I even called out, I think it was more of me being in shock. I loss a third cousin in the building which I didnt know as well as my father. One thing that I will never forget about 9/11 is the fact people (black and white) seemed united for once. It felt like all racism had ended. People had stickers, signs and flags all over their cars and homes. People seemed nicer.
If you ever been to NYC than you know what I mean about people being nice. For once NY had that southern hospitality feel. Everyday I walk past ground zero on my way to lunch and its hard to stomach what's left. Its also scary working downtown NYC. Now I'm in the heart of it all. I'm behind City Hall, in front of Police headquaters, across from the Federal buildings and next to the Brooklyn Bridge.

I was driving down Anglin Drive on my way to work when I heard the first report on the radio. Got to work and was watching the news when the second plane hit. Never felt that way before in my life. We had been attacked. Just unbelieveable!

I was in just walked into spanish class. I was a sophomore in HS. Heard that the first plane hit and then saw the second one hit on a grainy 1987 antenna TV, as I sat down at my desk. My HS was in Northern VA and we could hear the boom from the plane hitting the Pentagon. Northern VA/DC metro area was a complete mess. It was a sad day.

I had just bought my current truck the day before. I was sitting on the garage steps that morning, drinking a cup of coffee, trying to figure out what mod I would do first, when the wife called and said a plane hit one of the towers. As I watched, the second plane hit. I remember telling her it was no accident...
