New Metallica Album

Anyone listened yet? I'm not sure what to think. It's certainly better than St. Anger, and I've only listened to it twice, but I'm wondering if they should just retire...the magic seems to be gone.

I have been forcing myself to listen to St. Anger in hopes that the new album will sound better.

Listening to Metallica.com right now.

Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice For All, and the Black album are 4 of the best albums ever made by any band IMO. They did nothing but go down hill from there however, starting with Load.

St. Anger was absolutely terrible....I can't believe that was actually Metallica that made the album. I listened to it one time and I've never touched it since.

For anyone that knows....is the newest album anything at all like their old stuff? If so, it'll be worth buying. If not, I won't waste my money like I did on the St. Crap album.

Is it anything like the song "one"? That song is my favorite by them, oh and sad but true.

Agree 100%.

As for the new stuff, listen for yourself. Not too bad.

I just listened to some of the new songs on their website.....I just can't get into their "new" sound. I miss the old school, heavy-***, head bangin', pissed off, melt your face metal of which Metallica was the God of.

Oh well, the old albums are still legendary.

They can't keep up doing the speed metal like they used to. They're getting old.

I would definitely purchase it. It is leaps and bounds above St. Anger. Some songs seem like the Black Album, others like Load/Reload, and a few others like Ride the Lightning.

i love the new album, yes it's leaps and bounds above what st. anger was. and of course it is not gonna be the same as and justice for all, master of puppets, etc. that was ages ago and the band has grown. i've been listening to the album since last tuesday when it was leaked and i love it. it is back to their old stuff but not exactly their old stuff. it is a good mix, and i think the songs are great, listen to My Apocalypse, the day that never comes, Judas Kiss, and All nightmare long probably the best songs on there. although the other ones are great too.
