Way back in an earlier decade, Ford made the decision to drop the Mustang and replace it with another model. A write in campaign caused them to change their minds about dropping the Mustang. What was the car that was to replace the Mustang?

Close, 1948.

Thunderbolt had a 427 IIRC. Not sure on the #'s. I thing Jack Roush raced a couple in his days.

There was a homoligation rule of the race sactioning bodies that for a vehicle to be stock, at least 100 had to be built and sold.


The early Mustangs used two different 4 speed transmission. What is the name of the stroger, more sought after 4 speed?

those are the ones used in Ford cars. May have been someothers in Lincolns or trucks.
