Normally a Norton CD is also bootable. You should be able to shut down with the CD in your drive and do a scan on start up. However, depending upon how old that CD is, the virus or trojan may not be part of it's definitions. Other option is to try a online scan at Symantec, assuming you can get there. However that may take hours and hours, depending upon the amount of data you have on your hard drive.

Sounds like you got hit with the Antivirus 2008 bug... I made reference to it in this thread a few weeks ago:

Check out the second part of post #5 in this thread:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/ge...-heads-up.html

If that's what you have, you can try to remove it manually, or pick up a license of this:

http://antivirus2008.remover-pro.com...FQllsgodtj66qQ

I opted for the license because you really need to know what you're doing to remove it manually.

It's angry nerds who have too much time on their hands. With this Antvirus 2008 bs, they are also trying to get you to pay for a bogus license and extort money.

Someone needs to take a baseball bat to their nut sack. Problem is, no one can ever find them because most of the time they are from different countries. I think this virus originated in China, or somewhere over there.

It's such a pain in the **** to get rid of. I sympathize with anyone who got infected by it.

I had this awhile ago. I'll find my notes tonight. I was able to get rid of it by going through the registry and finding all of it's evil virus spawn. It only took about 30 min to get rid of from start to finish.

I had that virus a couple of months ago. I was using Spybot S/D. I paid $50 to download Antispy storm and it got rid of it....I think. I'm not sure WTF is wrong but I cant use the Antispystorm anymore because it tries to open with Notepad. If I try to use Notepad I get some B.S. warning and it automatically shuts down. Any help???
