turbobuicks.com "the best messageboard ever".

Really, for the most part as of late, many of you have been policing yourselves but, like you menetion, I really don't think a minimal voice or minimal participation from the moderators/admins would work here.

I think, up until last week, I've maybe moved or deleted two - maybe three - threads over the past MONTH or two. Unfortunately though, with 130,000 members here (most of which aren't active), it's a slightly different scene - or at least that's my opinion (and I think you share that opinion, Nassty).

I doubt we could ever open up the door and remove the lock, ya know?

As Tumba mentioned, things have been stretched pretty far and thin here as of late and the hammer has fallen quicker and with more force than is the 'norm'... Thank you for that post, Tumba.

I know my opinion doesn't matter much since I don't come here that often. But it is a truck site. For truck info. I come here for truck questions and answers. If I want **** or to get the f-himers out I go to a diffrent site. You can get yor point across without swearing, or bashing another member. I like the site and do sometimes enjoy the banter between members. But sometimes you have to roll with the punches.

I agree there are just to many active members here for the self policing to work.Out of the 12k members on the turbobuicks site a lot of those members are no longer active.
Keep up the good work. This is still the best Ford truck forum on the net.

The decision to bring Stealth to moderator status was, indeed, mine but, it wasn't for the reasons that are being cited.

I won't explain my reasoning nor will I answer for bringing him in. I have zero regrets and, honestly, his name had come up long before he became one -- and the period of time that it took for him to become one, from start to finish, was only a few days long and was with IB's full support...
No, I didn't for a second think that's why Stealth was appointed as a moderator. I know you and the rest of the staff here well enough to know that you guys wouldn't do something so ridiculous.

I'm inclined to believe that Stealth got his moderator beanie because you guys thought he was the best dude for the job. That's good enough for me, until he proves otherwise.

Quintin - I appreciate that and, again, appologize for the misunderstanding.

I have a totally OT question for you -- ahh, nevermind, I'll PM you. It's about our damn 2004 Explorer.

How do you report threads anyway? Is there a report thread button? How about report post or user?

I would like to do this sometimes

Use the 'REPORT' link adjacent to each post.

By clicking through it and submitting the report (it looks like this: ), it dispatches emails out to the moderators (to a certain extent). As I've mentioned in the past, I want you guys to use it when you see something that is totally out of line or if it's something that you think a moderator should address/see. All I ask is that it's not abused.... trying to get the attention of a moderator only because you are still attempting to get a last word in or if you're using it to irritate will result in backlash...

In short, we encourage self-policing on the site... it can do nothing but make the site a better place.

Just curious, a question for the mods,

Does someone ever report a thread, you look at it, and decide it's acceptable?
Do people ever incorrectly report a thread, or do it out of spite?

Habibi

Can I be in charge of the Canadian forum? It's been several years since I had a job where I could smack people around and exert my authoritay!

j/k, I suppose the once every 15 months I visit there would not be enough of a committment.

You goofy Canadians... LMAO!

Yes, they do get reported out of spite on a rare occasion. Most of the time though, it's correctly used and is most appreciated. We honestly need more people on the forums to help to self-police. By that I mean reporting a problem when they see it in the pipeline or after it's happend or is occuring. That helps keep the place in tip-top shape and aids in the diversion of melt-down types of problems.

Seems they don't take a liking to threads that have to do with the increasing amounts of spam that are popping up on the site. My thread met the chopping block yesterday with no rhyme or reason.
