Why be a moderator?
I re-read this post and that's a very scary and ignorant reason to appoint someone as a moderator.
That was the reason I left one of the boards where I was an admin. It wasn't the members. It was the other admins/mods that were inconsistent. F that... I couldn't be bothered with it anymore.
Power. You want power over everyone else. Stealth now can sit back and laugh. Just last week he was on the same level of the totum pole as the rest of us, and all of a sudden he has absolute power over our accounts. It's a job of responsibility, and general interest for the well-being of the site.
He wants to contribute to the site by doing his own job to clean it up and maintain it. He has obviously been on it for a while and spends most of his free time if not all on the website, so he might as well get the position. I'm unsure if he has ever been banned, but all of his reporting sealed the deal getting him the position im sure.
He was sick of seeing people breaking the rules and not having direct control over it getting taken care of.
Of course im speaking all of this under the idea that stealth actually wanted to be mod before he got it, not RP appointing stealth without him even expecting it.

there was none it was locked not removed if we had broken rules it would have been axed and to give stealth credit he said 5 or 6 posts in it was getting 86ed I guess even if you play by the rules it does not matter

Moderators usually agree on suspensions and the banning of a member, I have yet to be on a forum where they all have to agree on warnings, editing threads or locking threads
The decision to bring Stealth to moderator status was, indeed, mine but, it wasn't for the reasons that are being cited.
I won't explain my reasoning nor will I answer for bringing him in. I have zero regrets and, honestly, his name had come up long before he became one -- and the period of time that it took for him to become one, from start to finish, was only a few days long and was with IB's full support...
I can't speak for anyone else here but, I can speak for myself... The reason that I do it is because I enjoy the site. I enjoy what it stands for and I take pride in trying to keep it quid pro quo. The guys - well, most of them - here are fantastic people. They will step up and help you at the drop of a hat or will go to bat for you when a problem comes up with your truck and, in some cases, your life.
I do donate my time freely with nothing to be expected in return. It's crossed my mind numerous times to just hang it up and walk away but, I honestly kind of enjoy trying to explain things and doing what I think is right. While I will and have and will again make mistakes, I'd like to think that many of the decisions that I'm empowered to make are the correct ones, in the best interest of IB, and - most importantly, in the best interest of the paradigm that has long since been set by the others who have been here since the conception of the site.
The site is f150online.com - not joychat.com. Most who are here are for the same reason with a few exceptions. I like the normal... I like what the site stands for and, most of all, I enjoy the time I'm here.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if I am wrong, this could get interesting...so, SUBSCRIBING!!

turbobuicks.com "the best messageboard ever".
If that's the case, I apologize for even quoting him there... I may have misunderstood it.
As Tumba mentioned, things have been stretched pretty far and thin here as of late and the hammer has fallen quicker and with more force than is the 'norm'... Thank you for that post, Tumba.
