no electricity for about 9 days i think.that wasn't the worse part. worse part was finding supplies after it happened. we were some of the first allowed back in beaumont.

get plenty of canned foods, throw a tarp over the woodpile so all the wood isn't wet, and buy about 5 chainsaws, 5 generators, 200 tarps, and all the gas you can. you can either be REALLY prepared or REALLY rich...
yeah rita was bad. i stayed during rita and left about 3 days after it ended and it was horrible never going to do that again...luckily my family just built a new house with a new standby generator that runs of the gas line to the house so we are going there for the night incase we loose power...

yeah firewood to cook. and keep the mosquitos off. speaking of it... buy about 20 cans. towards the end when power comes back on you can use them for homemade fire bombs..

trust me, warm food is nice when you don't have it for awhile...

this tropical storm is a tiny little thing. Nothing is going to happen except lots of rain and maybe a couple trash cans get knocked over.

I have been through a catagory 4 hurricane (Hugo) when it passed over Puerto Rico back in 1989-90. That was scary! There were 170mph wind gusts! Lost power for 2 weeks and running water for 1 week. I also went through a bunch of hurricanes in Florida and non of them came even close to Hugo. Unless its a catagory 3 or higher you have nothing to worry about unles you live in a trailer or you live on the water.

Recently I was buying coleman fuel, you can't even find it in the gallon can anymore. Little Quart size cans at $6.50 give or take a few cents.

Unbelievable
