Stevie Ray V and ZZ Top came out of Texas, so it can't be all that bad.

Yep, like them all. A couple of years ago, saw his old band in downtown Fort Worth. Double Trouble. They were very good. Had some young guy doing the vocals. I forget who was on the lead guitar. Wasn't near Stevie but it brought back some memories. The original drummer(Chris), the bass player, and Wyans on keyboard.

Ran across this vid while hunting around. It shows you just how fast he was, even though this isn't actually him:

And here's the real deal!

Ok guys, I was a little nervous until I remember New Orleans just went through this. I watched some old news footage that has helped me prepare just as they did.

Dolly to haul big TV's I steal - Check
Pen to sign FEMA check - Check
Gun to shoot at those trying to save me - double check
No water or supplies - check

I am currently working on my speech blaming Bush and I have turned off the TV and radio so I don't have to hear those pesky warnings.

i'm from silsbee i was there for rita... happened 3 days after i got back from iraq. i drove from central louisiana down through dequincy to silsbee FIRST thing that morning. good thing i had the old chainsaw because i was cutting most of the trees out of the road... picture my truck driving down the road with all the trees down and then a guy jumping out with a chainsaw REDNECk

no electricity for about 9 days i think.that wasn't the worse part. worse part was finding supplies after it happened. we were some of the first allowed back in beaumont.

get plenty of canned foods, throw a tarp over the woodpile so all the wood isn't wet, and buy about 5 chainsaws, 5 generators, 200 tarps, and all the gas you can. you can either be REALLY prepared or REALLY rich...

I was in Houston when TS Allison landed back in '01 and when Rita hit in '05.

Allison left the city flooded for at least a week. I can still remember the 18 wheelers floating on I-10. I was a researcher downtown in the med center at Baylor. All of our research mice were kept underground for security purposes. We lost them all. Over $600K worth drowned and years of effort lost. I can still remember the news report of those people who drowned in an elevator that decended into a flooded underground parking garage.

Rita had everbody paniced. Over 2 million people evacuated the greater Houston area. Interstates, Highways, and side roads were parking lots for three days. Many people remember driving 13 hours just to go 50 miles. Rita knocked out electricity to the entire easter side of the city all the way to the Louisiana state line. No power for over 10 days. But those wealthy SOBs in The Woodlands didn't have any disruption in service. I still know people who havent fully recovered. Many are still waiting on their insurance company's to honor their side of the agreement.
