That's the only issue I know of that the NAACP actually helps. One-sided, maybe. But most minority companies can't afford lobbyists. - Og
But having this organization has actually hindered black society. This along with black scholarships and other advantages only available to black americans, has angered white america. We feel that it is lopsided and we are getting shafted now. Its a sea saw effect. America tries to compensate for the problems blacks faced early on, and ends up angering whites due to the lopsidedness. So now, we are angry, not at black people, but the "system", and take our anger and frustration out on the black people, unjustified, but the only way we know how. The "system" needs to be re-vamped. Having Obama or Mccain will not help this. There needs to be a radical candidate who will try to fix this issue instead of other sub-issues which these candidates focus the majority of their attention.

Why is it they feel they should have things handed to them?
A white man wouldnt get the same so why should they.
Good for one good for all
Even though these people have lost everything and are now refugees displaced by Katrina,
you are crying because you feel they are asking for too much?
Help with basic human needs, food, water, and shelter.
Education to learn a skill that will lead to employment thus helping the economy grow.

Sad but there are others who feel asking for something as simple as water is too much

Drew, I don't think he meant it like that.

Sorry, dude. Didn't mean to put you on hold. I understand what you mean by feeling that organizations like the NAACP can make people feel like the scales are unbalanced. I still believe that they're a necessary evil, though. For example, getting totally away from the race thing, think about this. There are people who believe that you shouldn't carry a weapon to protect yourself or your family. How much difference do you think your opinion would make if you, alone, didn't like that and decided to carry your thoughts to Congress? I'm certain you probably wouldn't get pass the steps of the Capital Building. But if you have an organization like the NRA behind you, you travel a bit farther. It's just a matter of what you are trying to say and having people feel the same as you convey your points to get stuff done. Habitat for Humanity, Teamsters, United Auto Workers, Republican Party, Democratic Party, basically all the same concept. - Og
