Got the PS3 with hooked up to the 52". Using a HDMI cable makes all the difference in the world. We actually replaced our 42" with the 52" because it didn't have an HDMI port on it. I'll be the first to say that blu ray is defiantly better than dvd.

Blu-Ray is amazing. I was watching a wide-screen tv in sears that showed the difference between blu-ray and hdtv, and the difference was very noticable. On the tv I was watching, they were playing Pirates of the Carribean. The left side of the screen was blu-ray, and the right was regular hdtv. The blu-ray side looked so real and fluent, it was like I was looking at a real, life-like Captain Jack Sparrow in a big 60" box (I was waiting on him to reach out and grab me through the tv). The hdtv side was dull, and the motion was not as fluent. That's the best that I can describe it. If you haven't seen blu-ray, I suggest you go to Circuit City, Best Buy, or Sears, and see for yourself.

Been hooked since I got my PS3 when it came out.

PS3 + BR Movie + Quality HDTV = Visual perfection

And the reason "regular HDTV" looks worse than BR is compression. Cable and Sat providers must compress and drop data in order to give you move HD channels. Thus, inferior picture quality. Also note most channels are 720P to boot.

Oh trust me im addicted. Hell, I sell the stuff for work haha. But yeah, BD is truely amazing. Only thing better is a BD on a 120hz tv.

I hate the prices though, roughly $600 invested in my Blu ray collection already. It sucks

I've got maybe 12 movies in my collection which really isn't much for 18 months of collecting.
What these ninkompoops need to figure out is...
release the damn blu-ray movie on the same day the standard dvd is released.
When they wait 2-4 weeks, it's too late.
Habibi's already been to the video store, watched the movie, which even though it's not Blu-ray, is still 'not too bad' after it's been upconverted.

So when I'm browsing in Bestbuy 4 weeks after I already saw the movie, and then I see the Blue Ray version on sale at a paltry $42,99 + 13% taxes, I say to myself:
"bleh, the moment has passed"

I'd rather use that money on a cheap hooker, a box of beer, or some crack.

At least that pesky HD DVD is done now, meaning all the titles will be blu ray, which is good. They put up a fight, they tried hard, but now they can go cry themselves to sleep and 'git'.
I wanted a copy of "The Kingdom' so bad when it came out, but 'oh no', that's an HD title only.

These pesky buggers were a real inconvenience.

That's pretty good man, especially if you found a seller that gives 'free shipping like this guy:

I should buy stuff from this guy and have it shipped to my friend's US address.
Thanks for the idea.

Yes, I am hooked. Far better picture, than regular DVD, even when that picture is upconverted to 1080P. Have a 61" LCD projection TV, blue ray player, and a blue ray burner on my PC. Biggest problem I have is getting good quality video/audio to my PC so I can edit and burn the blue rays.
