To the OP
Do you think a liberal tax hike would affect your life at this moment.
Or will W's tax check in your bank account will change the balance at the end of the month.
I think anyone but convicts and **** CHeney should be able to own fire arms. Some liberals don't think anyone but outlaws should have a gun.

NA! our political leaders have no effect on my day to day life.

Threads like this highlight how young and uneducated some of the people posting here really are.

If you don't think the election of our president has any effect on your life then you just have not lived long enough to understand how things in the real world actually work.

Yes I am too young to vote, but as soon as I'm able to vote I'll never miss an election. I just think that its pretty much a toss up of whos going to win, so why argue? I say we should reinstate a new sub-level thread underneath "General Discussion" and name it "Political Discussion"

Anyone been over to Chevy, Dodge, or Tundra sites and see if their doing it?

If you're not old enough to vote then there is something that you will learn in the upcoming years. You aren't going to believe me, or anyone else who tells you this. I didn't either. No one does. Things change. Things will change for you. A lot. You're perception will change.

People are arguing because it's a toss up. If it were a slam dunk for either, there wouldn't be as much to debate. This year we have two fatally flawed candidates who are similar in too many ways and their differences are vast and stark. There are two very different directions this country could be headed. The debate is which direction the country should go.

Election seasons are few and far between. Things heat up when we're in one. The rest of the time the discussion is about things like Tundras, Titans and girlfriends getting fat. There are only a hand full of us who actually engage in these political discussions. I don't think that moderators will feel it necessary to add a sub-catagory. Like someone said earlier, if you don't want to be involved in political discussion, don't click on a political thread. There are a lot of other discussions going on at the same time.

I totally agree. ( cough, cough )

So with that said, do you have any more of your lame "road rage" and "girlfriend drafting" stories to share?

He did let it slip out that she's now the ex- girlfriend. I'm surprised we haven't seen a thread about that yet!

Yup the Tundras are now eating bearings on the front diff. Toyota says it cant replace just the bearings and a whole new front diff needs to be ordered. $1,700 in just parts, no idea what insane amount the labor must be. 3 people have had the exact same problem, lucky for them they were still under warranty. Time will tell if these were random failures or a faulty bearing issue that would quickly get ugly for Toyota

This has nothing to do with me, so I could care less. Gay people are not going away, so let them just get married if they want to get married. I am for it though, I think if these people love one another enough they should have the right to be married.. Especially for tax and insurance reasons. This holds no water for a presidential candidate for me.

On September 11, 2001 terrorists hijacked planes from Bostons Logan airport, flew two of them into the Twin Towers, one into the Pentagon and caused one to crash in Pennsylvania. For about a decade before that date there were several terrorists attacks on American interests here and abroad that were considered law enforcement issues and were basically ignored as a threat to our country. This was a day that changed my life. I'll bet it changed the lives of a lot of Americans.
So if this is the case then Bush Sr and Clinton are to blame..A Democrat and a Republican. But I myself blame airport security myself. If people would have been doing thier job, this could have been avoided. Non issue for a president

Illegal immigrants have been flooding this country for a couple decades. Employers are exploiting their cheap labor and the government seems to be on the side of the employers. As a result, people who immigrate to this country legally and citizens of this country are devalued by the illegals willingness to work for low wages. In addition it's become apparent that illegal immigrants are costing tax payers a lot because of increased law enforcement issues, as well as other services they use.
Year after year I see the Russian kids come here to work for the summer on work visas and then just wind up staying, especially the girls, they just hitched and wind up staying legally. Most I have talked to say they will just take thier chances and stay in the US as long as they can. We can build a wall, but they will just fly over it..This is a presidential issues, but they will never do anything about it.

On August 29, 2005 the category three hurricane, Katrina, made landfall near the Louisiana/Mississippi border. It devastated large areas and left too many people homeless. The flooding tropical rains caused Lake Pontchartrain to breach levees flooding a large portion of New Orleans. This tragedy has been costing tax payers in this country since it happened. It's left a lot of people to suffer and a lot of people who take advantage of the situation.
Well blame the governor of Louisiana for this. They were warned time and time again that the levees would fail on a Category 4 or 5 storm. But they just ignored this. I remember the speech by the governor before land fall. He said " our worst fears have now come upon us, a category 5 storm is going to hit us" They and he knew the danger was imminent but did nothing about it, this could have been prevented by taking the warnings by engineers and building a Levee and Damn system = to the systems in Europe, that are proven to work. But after all is said and done, it is now George Bush's fault, that is a F'N joke.. Blame this on the State of Louisiana. This would fall under voting for a state and local officials, not the president.

I do understand that these were some sad issues, but voting for a President is not going to change or prevent any of these things from happening again. There is still going to be tragedy and natural disasters no matter who is in the big chair.

Well, I guess if it's all about you than you're right. Nothing will change. There are two hundred nintey-nine million other people in this country, some of whom will not share your point of view. Some of them will feel that the person sitting in the big chair can infact change their lives.

Our local and state governments are greatly effected by decisions made at the federal level. I agree that we should be paying close attention to what our local representatives are doing but they aren't separate
from the federal government. They are tied to it, like it or not.
