I think mythbusters proved the "brown note" false.

I too agree the safety of the general public is the primary concern, I see no reason to assume that safety at this event will even be a problem.
I'm not sure where u got the 50% and Dem/Republican stuff from. Not from anything I said.

Obviously 99% was a guess. If I have to spell it out for ya - I was trying to say that when the Police show up and start arresting people and beating them up/throwing tear gas, etc. It's because the protesters are breaking some sort of law.

There is probably only about 1% of the time(in the last 20 years or so) that the police have used unnecessary force against the protesters.

Most of the time they should use force before they do in my opinion.

GLC summed it up very well - "The right to protest does not also give you the right to be a nuisance."

You said most protest get out of hand and require police intervention.
This is a political protest, something you can hardly compare to a protest of the O.J. verdict or a protest in the beating of Rodney King. Most political protest are peaceful and I see no reason for them to believe this will be otherwise. I thought it was funny how you tie the word protest automatically to unlawful events

No I didn't say that. I said "those protesters go way overboard most of the time". that a lot different than "You said most protest get out of hand and require police intervention." Don't misquote me.

Does WTO come to mind? This was a political protest.
Or more recently - The olympic torch?

I certainly don't call the OJ or Rodney King events political protests.

Those were just plain riots, looting, murdering and stealing. At least the ones on the news were.

By the way.
Who cares if they do have a crap cannon if it's a peaceful protest?
You know they also have real guns. Do you want them to leave them at home too?

For those of you who think the 'crap cannon' is a myth
I can say with absolute certainty that 'govt snipers' have hit me with it at least three times this past year on our public streets!

(there was a possible fourth incident but, that could have been my fault)

Thats true. It's not new technology either. They had it back in 1983.

Why would they use it on a 1st grader? That's what I want to know!

I know they have to prepare for these things, my frustration comes from the vibe I get that they expect something to happen. Guns, tear gas, crap cannons all have the possibility of being used, I just dont think as of right now their is any reason to believe any of these measures will be necessary. In making that point I was very unclear, but that is what I was trying to say
