Joint Checking Account
Joint Checking Account
My wife is talking me into merging our income into one account. I've only heard horror stories when it comes to this. Is it "really" worth it? So far, I think not. - Og
She "claims" we'll be better off. How in the hell is that possible when I make more than she does? Seems like a rim job to me. - Og
If you don't trust her why did you marry her?
Same here.

If you do not like sharing with your wife, divorce her...
How long have you been married Og?
I'm getting married in November and we'll more than likely join accounts. She does give me a funny look sometimes when the UPS man shows up with more boxes of truck stuff though

Just tell her no. At some point during the divorce proceedings you'll realize half of it is hers no matter where it is.
We have a joint account and my whole pay check goes in directly but I also keep a separate account and credit card for me only. She knows it exists but never asks the details.

I have a joint checking, i do the bills, my wife has a set amount she can spend. Just like me, if its anything above that amount she or i have save for it.
I see no problem if you keep the spending under control

Do you guys feel like maybe I should but have a separate account for my "personal" transactions? By the way, you really don't know a thief until you're in bed with one. Not married long, but nothing's missing yet. - Og
My wife and I have separate accounts. I manage all of the money in the house. She hasn't balanced her check book in lets see, yeah never. It cost me 5 large to get her out of debt when we got serious. Not going through that again.
She is much better with her ability to manage her money now. It just takes the "honey can I buy blah" out of the equasion. She buys what ever she wants and I buy whatever I want.
I suggest separate accounts for "play money" and a joint account for bills, yada, yada that you both contribute EQUALLY to.
Out of the six guys that work in the office, four handle all of the money in the house.
Og - that way you don't have to explain the stripper receipts from the "business" trip.
