The 05+ Mustangs are pretty hard to make sound good. Flowmasters sound HORRIBLE on them. The Magnaflow exhaust system is a joke, it doesn't sound much louder than stock. When it's hitting the rev limiter, it sounds like it should only be at like 3,500 RPMs. Really quiet. The Steeda axle back sounds decent but honestly, the best sounding exhaust system is the Pypes Mid Muffler system. It's the best thing out there IMO and it sounds insane with a set of long tubes. Good idea of keeping the cats, they are only worth 2-4 rwhp to lose them but they make it sound like crap. The Pypes Mid Muffler system is like $350 from Brenspeed with free shipping.

I have the Magnaflow "MagnaPack" system on mine. Keep in mind that Magnaflow makes two different systems for this car, and the MagnaPack is the more aggressive sounding one with the "stinger style" mufflers. I agree with Thumper that the basic Magnaflow system is so quiet that you might just as well stick with stock.

The sound of mine is great in gears 1-4, but for whatever reason the drone becomes terrible whenever I drop it down into 5th gear. For the amount of drone I'm getting with my system, I'm contemplating going back to the stock extension pipes and pairing them with a set of SLP Loudmouths.......

My boss just put a Corsa exhaust on his GT. Not sure, but I'd assume it's a cat-back. It sounds real good imo - especially the deeper tones. Car looks great - congrats OP!

Nice looking ride I'm thinking of getting back into a Mustang again myself because of the gas prices and the mileage my truck gets. But if I do go back to a Mustang it will have to be a used one and be my first used car in over 20 years. i'm thinking of getting a of getting a 05 or 06 GT but nothing older than a 04 GT. The bad thing is all the ones I seen so far have been Auto's the only way to have a Mustang GT is with a manual trany.

I went to Carmax last week just to check out the Mustangs and damnet they had 3 black ones all lined up with like 10k miles on them for $20k. I personally want a blue or silver one. Anyways if I were to ever get a car, that would be my choice. 10mpg better on the highway, which would be good for commuting to college and back. I just can't see selling my truck and taking the loss though. Plus it would look funny to have a small trailer behind it for my dirt bike

Ya they keep a decent value. I paid $26,000 for my car and the sticker was $29,000. I got a good deal, too. So that tells you how little room they actually have. Dealer only made a couple grand off of my sale.

Yea my truck kind of took a plunge in value this last year I'll probably have it forever though and just add the mustang in after college so my truck can have a friend in the driveway I will always need a truck, well that is unless the Mustang can pull a single axle trailer with all my motocross stuff on it

Thanks for the info on exhausts. I’ll keep hitting shows and asking other guys about there systems. I wanted to go with something different but I’ve never heard a Steeda system before. I’ll look at the Roush exhaust as well. I remember a friend of mine had a Borla system on his 89 Mustang, sounded really good and bit different than everyone else (Maybe because none of us could afford one back then). It blows me away at how big the after market is for these cars.

Lightninrod – Yes that my wifes car, 03 Murano. I like it, although the premium gas sucks.

Late update

I just came across this old post… ahhhh I guess I should update it. Dream come true was sold last year. Baby number 2 was on it’s way, that wasn’t the main reason, but due to other family needs, I had to free up some funds. Family comes first for me.

Anyway, my loving wife made a very cool promise to me. When it’s the right time again I can get what ever I want, I was thinking a GT500kr would be pretty cool. Maybe a new Roush…
