I know for me I am not getting worked up over the gas prices yet. I think this is all greed and it will level off and the prices will come down. I have made some adjustments in the meantime that are saving me money and is helping with fuel cost. For starters I bought a affordable beater car, I quit smoking, I quit drinking at the bar and bringing home a 30pack. I stopped eating out in restaurants, I don't get take out for lunch anymore, I have been buying bread and making lunch at home and been looking for sales and buying store brands in grocery stores and cutting back on the junk. I also had to get my wife to quit some of her expensive shopping trips and over spending on junk. As far as I am concerned when the gas prices drop, I will start spending again. It really sucks because it is hurting the economy big time, but what are you going to do when gas is streaking towards $6 and $7 a gallon you have to start giving something up. I feel like this is going to turn out just like the housing boom, oil companies are going to out price themselves and they are going to lose thier A$$ in a couple of years. It is all greed, everyone trying to get rich overnight and it is the poor and middle class that suffer the most..
Regular gasoline sold for $2.29 a gallon
Too many Americans have no concept of the "common good" required for a society to remain successful and intact, to them it's all just "me, me, me". I truly feel sorry for those of you who NEED a truck to earn a living, to the rest of you who only drive a truck because you LIKE it or WANT it, you have made your bed, sleep in it. I'm sleeping in mine, I sure can't sell it for anywhere near what it's worth.
I have no idea how much I spend on gas, I'm retired and don't HAVE to go anywhere except the store, and I can afford to put gas in it when it needs it. I will say that my road trips are going to be cut way back though.
Since I purchased my truck new in 2005, I have only put gas in it 5 times -- here's a detail:
- 08/13/05: 22.8 gallons @ 2.429
- 04/08/06: 20.0 gallons @ 2.719
- 09/02/06: 17.5 gallons @ 2.499
- 05/13/07: 16.0 gallons @ 2.859
- 12/01/07: 20.0 gallons @ 2.849

I pay $25 a fill up for half tank, 2 times a week = $50 a week. 4 weeks = $200.
Was doin double that in my truck.
a guy i work with just bought a 08 f150 xlt. hes paying 500$ a month and working like 60-65 a hours a week for it. the worse part of it is he works in our office.the only thing he puts in the bed is trash on saturdays for the dump.yea i drive a big truck but... my payment is less than half his. i told him to buy something used. is any vehicle worth working 7 days a week 9-10 hours a day for??

Same here.....$4.195 a gallon across the street from where I work. I'm spending ~$250 a month on gas. Min wage sucks, I might look for a better paying job if gas prices don't go down.
I spend about $400 a month just got back and forth to work and then probably another $100 for fun driving. I will either be moving closer to work or finding a job that is closer to where i live to help out.
