sand rail engine swap help

Here is a picture of my sand rail so you know what im dealing with.

I want to put a new style subaru engine or something in it. I know ive seen it done, but dont know what year engine fits in it. any help would be great!
its street legal, but I want more power, and im sure a turbo engine would be a lot more fun.

That looks like fun, but I think you need more trailer.
From what I can recall, you are probably going to have a lot more options and good deals if you stick with the VW flat four. Look into Type 4 engines.

I'd stick with the VW. You already have mounts for it, you know the trans will bolt up, and you can build those things to be REALLY fast. The other thing to need to look into is the transmission. I'm running a semi built type1 trans with a corvair flat 6 motor and I cant put much more power down before I have trans issues. If you run a turbo subie motor, you'd goign to need ALOT of trans to keep up with it. What engine is in there now?

I would look into a conversion kit to put a Ford 2300 motor in it. There are plenty of those engines around, and they can put out some serious HP, and are about bullet proof

better yet, the engine I have in there now is built. I've seen turbo kits for them, but cant find them now. that would be an option.

Never seen a fifth-wheel -150 before. Your truck would probably win in a race against mine even if you had that trailer hooked up and fully loaded

I found that site right before you posted that up! I believe im going to call tomorrow and order it. Here is a little clip of how it sounds now. It has a wild cam in it. Im going to sheetmetal the sides and repaint the whole thing including the wheels. I need a new project anyway.
