Looking for a high MPG car!!!!!!!:fyi:
I need a new work car and MPG is the number 1 priority.I hate to say it but I think domestic's are out due to the fact they they are bragging up 35 mpg's. That's rediculous. My 94' grand am got 34 V6!
So right now i'm thinking honda civic hybrid. It's supposed to get about 40-45 city/hwy.
Any better suggestons?
If there is a domestic out there that gets 40+ please let me know!

point and case:
We have one of these, 1982 Citroen.

2 cylinder, 35 HP, 5 gallon gas tank. Gets 62 MPG average. Only goes about 60 top speed. It is a convertible too, pretty sweet.
Yeah, what up now prius?
How many miles do you drive per week/year and @ what speeds? Hybrids are effective <40mph and almost useless for interstate 70+mph.
It is very hard to beat the Prius. The Civic is smaller and gets slightly less fuel economy for the same amount of money, although still eligible for half of original federal income tax credits. Altima is not as good, but again tax credits availible.
Escape/Mariner hybrid FWD has $3k tax credit and 34/30mpg which is pretty good, considering it's size/weight.

If you can wait a few more months, the Jetta Clean Diesel will be the best high speed/highway vehicle.

you may be wrong again. Citroen is still making tiny hatchbacks including 4door models. They look similar to the smart car.
