The OP needs to figure out exactly where he stands with this girl before committing to spending a summer with her and her family.
It's 'fairly obvious' you like her and she has 'some' feelings for you? Hmmm. Sounds like you could be on her 'friends' ladder. Google 'ladder theory' and check it out.
Sure, a vacation to Cabo is cool, but there could be lots of strings attached. Not just restrictions due to the family, but she could easily be bringing you to be her friend/ body guard/ activity buddy/ security blanket/ towel boy/ designated self esteem booster and NOT her boyfriend. If you want to be her boyfriend, you need to address it before leaving for Cabo, or this situation could end up bad.
The parents may be bringing you because a) they know their daughter sees you only as a friend and she is safe with you; and/or b) they don't like the other dude at all and want to see him go away, and they are bringing her to Cabo to get her away from him.
And that's not even mentioning how her current boyfriend / your friend deals with you.
BTW, was the other dude invited to go first, and he just could not make it due to work or school?
