Heading back to Houston today after a long week in Minnesota. Boy was a trooper being dragged along to numerous “adult” events that were likely kind of boring for him. My mom is 93 and still very sharp and independent - figured I’d better get my son up to see her at least one last time before something happens. Weather didn’t cooperate for any backroad cruises with my BIL in one of his collector cars (‘69 Chevelle SS and ‘62 Impala SS) although we did make it to a small local show on the 4th.

Need to detail the bed on my F-150 this weekend - lifted the tonneau cover last night and was shocked at how much dust was in there! Wouldn’t think it would be able to work it’s way into that area but I guess it finds a way......

Glad to hear you had a nice trip. Sounds like your BIL has some nice Chevy's. My first car was a '62 Impala but not an SS. Got it in '65 for my high school graduation present. Wish I could find another one in good shape! Licking my wounds from this evening's water gun fight with my 5 yr old grandson. He cheated and grabbed the hose and soaked me and the wife and was laughing his butt off!! Take care over in the big H-town!!

Lot's of dust under mine also...probably from going down dusty roads every so often.

His is an SS but only has a 283 so it’s more of a cruiser - the SS package is usually synonymous with performance, but on those first two years it was basically just an appearance package that could be had even on a six cylinder car. His is a gem though - black with a red interior and in wonderful condition!

His Chevelle is a neat car too - 396, 4-speed, bench seat, light green with a black vinyl top - kind of a strange combination for an SS car.

Sounds like some nice cars...in the early 70's I bought a '63 Impala 2 dr for $200 bucks. Black with red interior. 283 automatic and used it for a going to work car. I also had a light green '70 Impala 2 dr. with a 350 automatic. The old Impala's were nice cars. That 396 Chevelle sounds like a nice one too!! My brother had a SS396 Nova in 1969 that he bought new for $2400 bucks!

I’d take any of those cars now - can’t even remember the last time I saw ‘70 Impala.....
