Curious what you think about the T-Stat as you see hotter temps than I do. I like the idea in theory and just hope it's not going to hurt in Winter.

I won't be hitting any tracks, but expect some pretty big gains when I bolt everything on.
Installed it this AM. I drove it around for 45 mins or so.

With the OEM stat around town it would stay around the 198 mark. When screwing around it would run around 210. At the end of a 3rd gear pull at redline last 2 logs i was seeing 222 and 225.

With the 170 Tstat. Around town 180 to 184. Screwing around 192. WOT 3rd gear pull 205. So defiantly helps and this is still on the stock fan strategy. Waiting on a revision so the fan strategy will be tweaked.

Here what Mike said about the stock T Stat

Stock thermostat has a desired coolant temp of 210 with fans

barely kicking on at 202, then no ramping up more until 214

then 220.

The 170 thermostat will open at 185 and that will be our

target temp with fans set to help maintain that.

Cruise Set at 68mph for around 25 mins. This was taken towards the end of the run. 20 degrees cooler

Awesome!

I was thinking of getting the tune to trigger the fans @ 180* based on the info from the reisch site.

Thanks for the numbers, that is a great comparison.

Less heat means more fuel consumption, probably not enough to notice once tune is compensated

Id be curious what your temps looked like when you were towing the ML

Whats going on? Almost a thousand miles on the new truck so I'm good to tow. 2 trips planned in the next few weeks. Averaging 15.9 mpg for the first 940 miles so that's not too bad for a big tank!

Yeah, I'm monitoring MPG's closely now. May not be noticeable or relevant with the other mods I'm doing anyway.

In the end, it's not that I really care. You gotta pay to play!

Guess we will find out soon on towing the ML.

Fuel mileage?? I aint driving a prius but in all seriousness i did think about the fuel mileage just didnt think it would be a big hit what so ever. I just feel 225 is a tad warm over and over and over again. Truck averages about 2 datalogs a day lately so its getting run hard plus my normal screwing around with it. Waiting on new revision with fan strategy updated to see how its really going to be.

Hopefully around Christmas i will have a wagner intercooler in it. Then mid year next year some of the cavalli turbos from MPT. Figured when i roll it over to 100k everything should be done. Then really enjoy my next 100,000 miles

Truck was filled up when I bought it and only topped it off once...still shows over 300 miles till empty. On a long hwy trip cruising at 65 mph I can get about 16.5 or more so that's not too bad. Over 600 mile range easily before fueling up. I had a 2000 Super Duty years ago but this ones build quality is even better!
