Pretty easy start to the week -- quick run over the San Antonio to look at a job there this afternoon, grab some MNF in the hotel this evening while writing my inspection report, then drive back to Houston on Tuesday morning. Might stop in Seguin on the way home and treat my niece to lunch to give her a break from the "college food service" grind......

In between semesters I'd be working with the pipe insulators in chemical plants and refineries.

Yeah -- when I came back from school I worked as many hours as possible at Target to bank some extra coin! Of course, chasing the tail of female co-workers I hadn't seen since September had nothing at all to do with my enthusiasm for heading off to work......

I was driving the '66 GTO back then and had to pay a hefty sum for insurance. My Dad would not let me sit around the house and goof off when there was work available. Our neighbor was a superintendent with the local industrial insulating union so his son and myself would get a chance to make extra money. Most of the 18 to 20 yr old's back then were in the military if not in college and they always needed help. 10 to 12 hr days and any overtime was double time...also got travel pay if the job was more then 30 miles from the union office in New Orleans. This was after Hurricane Betsy in 1965 that did a lot of damage in SE Louisiana. Never had to chase tail back then because they were chasing me!!!
