I read where you are not supposed to use it on pavement, just off road. I assume it is ok to use it on ice to get going.

The main issue with using it on dry pavement comes with turning since it will want to bind since one wheel will turn faster than the other while turning.
It should automatically disengage at like 25mph and then re-engage around 20mph.
